    BluRay player application won't play discs without "update" despite playing them ...


    While this doesn't sound like a major issue, on nights like tonight when updating isn't possible because the service is offline, or if you lose internet access, the player becomes unusable. This doesn't sound like a desired behavior for a console positioned
    as an entertainment device meant to be a hub in the living room.

    Anybody else experience this?

    Bluray not working since latest update!!

    anyone having issues with Bluray player since today's update?

    Can see disc menu but won't play! Tried multiple discs and same issue.

    Uninstalled and reinstalled app BluRay player application won't play discs without "update" despite playing them ... :(

    Suggestions?

    BluRay player application won't play discs without "update" despite playing them ...

    Live should be back up and running now. If its not you need to do a cold restart. Hold power button for 10sec unplug the console and wait a few more seconds (I recommend waiting until the power brick light goes off) and then restart the console. Once done
    make sure your apps are up to date BluRay player application won't play discs without "update" despite playing them ... :p

    Xbox One X - Game play, Bluray playback choppy audio

    Hello,

    I've read "How to troubleshoot problems-playing disc on xbox one", that article is not applicable to my problem. So, I

    1. Performed a full reset i.e.remove everything.
    2. Then allowed the console to update itself.
    3. Signed-in.
    4. Did a full shutdown.
    5. restarted.
    6. Installed the Microsoft Bluray player app. (None of my games have been installed.)
    7. Inserted a bluray movie disc
    8. Which didn't play
    9. Did a full shutdown
    10. Restarted
    11. Xbox home shows disc detected.
    12. Played the movie disc, with Microsoft Bluray player app
    13. Immediately evident in the 20th century fox intro, that the choppy audio is still present.
    14. Let the movie run for 20 mins, choppy audio present all the way through.
    15. Removed the HDMI cable from the Xbox, inserted it into my old 2014 Sony bluray player. The movie plays fine with my Sony bluray player. Can conclude it is the Xbox at fault.

    Next suggestion please?

    so the issue is the bluray player app in the microsoft store.

    it needs to be updated with the latest codecs.

    please update the bluray player app.

    I agree a lot of the issue's aren't related to the bluray discs, it's the firmware on the bluray drive or the app that needs patching, I had something different happen though, my issues was with X-Men: The Last Stand on bluray, it just give me the error
    message saying the firmware needs updating on the bluray player in order to play the disc, I put it in my ps4 and it worked first time, tried it with two other bluray players and they all played it flawlessly.

    So there must be a lot of firmware/patches required for the drive for certain blurays. I'm sure they will find out what the problem is and hopefully patch the app or address the issues in the next firmware update
