    Bluray App requires the Internet?

Yesterday we had bad storms in my area and as a result had no tv or internet, so I thought I'd watch a movie only to discover that the blu ray app would not run without an internet connection. I find that a little ridiculous and wonder if others seen this
or seen any explanation? I did a search on the forums and didn't have any luck finding anything.

    Thanks for any assistance

    :)

Blu-Ray Error Code 0002 "Needs Update"

Are you connected to the internet? When you start the bluray app, if you are connected to the internet and signed in to Live), it should tell you an app update is available. I got a bray app update this morning when I tried a bluray.

If that doesn't prompt you to update, then I'd uninstall the bluray app, reboot the machine and then install the bluray app again.

  3. Xbox One S Blu Ray Player Issues

Every bluray I have (one 4k UHD Bluray and dozens of regular bluray titles) does not work with the Xbox One S I have. They work just fine in my other Xbox One (regular 500gb, not S or elite XBO, and obviously not the 4k UHD bluray) but every time I get an
HDCP error for 5 minutes flipping between the error screen and bluray app frozen, then it just tells me it cannot read the disc. Apparently the Xbox One S needs a different bluray app than the regular Xbox One bluray app. Maybe if the community was allowed
to make a bluray app for the Xbox One S it could save Microsoft some face since I have more faith in the community at fixing a problem via their own bluray app than Microsoft fixing it.

I just moved to my new house and it took a few days to get my internet switched over. The whole time I watched Blu-Ray movies without internet so you might want to get your facts sraight. I had no problems watching The Hobbit trilogy back to back.

    Bluray App requires the Internet?

Never had an issue watching blu-ray's while not online either.

I did set my console to offline mode though but it still works fine.

same thing happened to me, lost internet for a while, couldn't watch a Blue Ray, couldn't even load the media player to watch something off of my NAS.

but didn't care enough to look any further into it, went and played Pokemon Go instead.

Mine works offline just tested it by disconnecting the router, then launched the app and played a disc. No problem at all.

@viking - not sure what you're trying to imply about "getting my facts straight" - it didn't work for me while my internet was out, period. Maybe it's tied to my participation in the preview program, maybe not - that's why I'm here looking to see what others
    have experienced.

Thank to folks for checking on your own system or sharing their experience, that's good info. I'll have to try it again tonight and see how things work with the Internet working again, and then disconnect from the network to see if I can recreate the problem.
I couldn't call for support last night with the phones and cell down.

    Thanks again!

    Bluray App requires the Internet?

A few games and apps that you would think would work offline don't; unless you go to settings and select "Go Offline". The T.V. app is what surprised me, for the fact it stops working after a few days of being offline. Was offline testing something (Forgot
to go back online.) and noticed I couldn't watch T.V. the next day. Immediately started working after going back online. Tried going off and on for several weeks just to play around, and the T.V. function would not work after a 24 to 48 hour time period; then
would start working after connecting to the internet. While I have internet that rarely goes down, did find it stupid that watching T.V. required a check-in.

I wonder how many other owned apps/games stop working without a check-in every so often?

    Peace, J.R.
