I just got an Xbox controller today, so I could use it with my steam deck. I used my laptop to update the firmware. After that, no matter what the controller's connected to, it freaks out. It rapidly goes from connected to disconnected until I turn the controller off. However, the controller works perfectly fine wired. I have no idea what I did wrong.

    :)

Thanks for the reply. I actually figured out what was wrong on my own. I just deleted the controller connection the steam deck had saved then reconnected the controller, now it works fine.

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Daniel, by your description you have a new Xbox controller, they don't have much mystery when it comes to a bluetooth connection, try checking your Steam Deck if there is any update or configuration that can be done.

Sorry to hear it. Please try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down. Then unplug it for 30 seconds. Then hold the Sync button (left side near the USB port on the original Xbox One and just below
the power button on the S and X consoles) and the Eject button for the console then press the power button and hold until you hear a second start up noise.

If you are using the Xbox One All Digital console then you only need to hold the Sync button and then press the power button to reset.

You should now see a new screen. Scroll over to Restart/Reset and reset the console to factory settings. There is an option to keep installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them.

It sounds like you have a corrupted file somewhere. You may need to do a full reset of the console. I would first try a soft reset though

To do a soft reset just go Settings, All settings, System, Console info, Reset keeping games and app.

If that doesn't work then you want to try a full reset which is the same process except this time you don't keep games and apps. You want to wipe the entire console.

    Hope that helps.
