blue ray discs query

family decided that, at aged 71. I needed a games console so bought me a XBox One, noticed it had, under setting, Blue Ray disc option, if I buy myself a blue ray film, do I just put it in and will it play automatically, or do I go to settings/blue ray to
play it, also a bit concerned that on searching through this forum, prior to posting, a number of members appear to have problems with blue ray, please advise, and reassure me, all help and advice appreciated

Xbox One won't load or play several of my Blu-ray discs

Some blu-ray discs work, but others do not. The following discs throw an error on load:

• The crown and the dragon
• Space Battleship Yamato (the live action one from 2010)
• Osombie
• Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection (the animated one from 2009)

The error is:

• "We're having trouble reading this. Make sure it's a Blu-ray or DVD. If it's a game, launch if from your games & apps instead (0x91d70000)"
  

The error comes up after a couple seconds of spinning. These blu-ray discs all work in my Samsung blu-ray player. Other blu-ray discs work in my Xbox one, so this appears to be a software issue.

Blue-Ray resume not working

Discs only resume playback if e.g. you watch TV, then go back to the Blue-Ray player. Discs don't resume if you turn off the XBox (standby mode), turn it back on, and then launch the Blue-Ray player. If the XBox actually used Blue-Ray bookmarks then this
should work.

 

Depending on how your console is set up, the disc will either play automatically or you would start it through the blu-ray app. Then it works like any other blu-ray player. Blu-ray App on Xbox One | Watch Blu-ray discs on Xbox One

Personally I've never had issues playing any discs on my consoles, but with any electronic device these days, there's always a chance that there may be a few issues out there.
