Blue-ray App Automatic Chooses Language While Watching DVD

Let me know if there is a topic about this (did a search to find one but was unable to find one) and I'll refer to that post instead.

I have found that when watching select episodes of Transformers Super God Masterforce DVD on my Xbox One it will automatically choose the English track instead of the Japanese track. It does provide select episodes with English dubs
but those are supposed to be selectable through the Extras menu not while choosing the normal play through when selecting
    Play All or Episodes.

I have tried to choose the tracks through the playback menu (pause, fast forward, etc.) but I am unable to choose the Japanese language track. I have also tried these on a different device (laptop) in the past and it does play them
normally but I no longer have a DVD player anymore other than the Xbox One. I have also tried changing the language through the settings page under Disc & Blue-ray and changing them to Japanese (the option I am choosing is 日本語; let me know if have I been choosing
    the wrong one please).

Is there a way to prevent language playback to be automatically chosen to english?

    Thanks all for reading.

    :)

  2. so I want to watch a movie

Do you have the Blu-Ray App installed? That is required for watching Blu-Ray and DVD movies on the Xbox One, and it is not installed on the Xbox by default.

More information: Install the Blu-ray and DVD Player App | Xbox One

Can't watch a DVD without an internet connection?

    Hey there Yeti!

An internet connection is not required while watching a DVD. Can you describe what error you're seeing?

If this is the first DVD that you've tried to watch, then it's possible that you haven't downloaded the Blu-Ray Player app, which is required to watch Blu-Rays/DVDs. When you first put a Blu-Ray/DVD in the console, it will automatically prompt you to
download the app. If you didn't already have it installed and you weren't connected to Xbox Live, then it would give you an error.

Let us know what you're seeing and whether or not you're able to watch a DVD while offline after downloading the Blu-Ray Player app. We'll be standing by to hear back from you! ^_^

    Hey JWM,

So it seems that on certain episodes and not on all of them, the DVD is playing the English track and not the Japanese one. How are you able to choose between the English track and the Japanese one, is it not through the first menu of the DVD? Or does it
choose the English track by default?

Do you have any other DVD with two languages that you could try to replicate the issue?

I would recommend to clear the DVD and Blu-Ray persistent storage. You can do so from Disc & Blu-Ray>Blu-Ray>Persistent Storage>Clear. Hit the clear button about 3 times. Then I would suggest a complete

    power cycle.

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 5 mins.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One

    Hi XBF Diego M,

Thank you for your reply. By default all episodes are set to Japanese audio when using the DVD in a laptop. The English dubs are supposed to be accessible through the
Extras menu on disc one and five and not played when selecting Play All or
Episodes menu. The Xbox chooses the English dubs over the Japanese audio for these episodes.

Yeah tried it with the Transformers Headmasters and Victory and they had to be set-up in the
Settings menu to choose Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Gave clearing the Persistent Storage a go and no such luck unfortunately. Thank you for the suggestion, really appreciate it.

Hey JWMS thanks for keeping us in the loop!

The issue here might be that the console recognizes the region and adjusts to it so it might be simply that since the console is set to an English speaking region it changes it English. Check the

    Language & Location
settings on the console and let us know if we can further assist in this or any other issue!

    Hi again XBF Diego M,

I have not forgotten to reply, just haven’t replied till now.

I gave changing the language and location settings a go but I don’t speak Japanese and have not had any luck yet. If I can work out what some of the characters mean I will give it a go. Will keep you updated.

Thanks again for your time and reply.

    Hi JWMS1985!

Good to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear you haven't had any luck being able to watch those select episodes in Japanese on your Xbox One. It definitely seems odd that one series isn't working as intended but the other two that come in the same collection
    are working.

The one thing I find rather interesting is the way to select the audio you want as the other two that work have a settings page where you can set what you want but the disc having issues does not have a settings page and the English episodes are accessed
through the Extras menu so that might be something to consider but still odd it doesn't do that on your laptop. Even when the Xbox selects the English dub version over the Japanese can you switch back to the one you want or are you forced to watch the episode
    in English?

The only other thing I can think of that might be beneficial to troubleshoot this issue is a possible

    soft factory reset
. If you know your account login information and have a stable internet, I don't believe trying this will harm anything and it might help.

We look forward to hearing from you!
