    Blu-Ray won't run (Life of Pi, ...)


    Hi folks !

    I experience a problem with the BR API. Life of Pi won't run, in 3D or in the BR classic version (I live in France + preview program).

    I experienced in the past this kind of issue with Break Bad Final Season (and Game of Throne Season 2 before the update).

    Could I do something ? Is there something
    to warn microsoft about these issues ?

    No Blu-Ray is a different disc reading to the standard DVD basis. Many companys have the legal right of using it like Sony. But Microsoft isn't one of them so I'm sorry it won't play Blu-Ray DVDs. They require a Blu-Ray Disc Driver.

    Mandatory Install With Only 500GB

    Blu-ray is fast enough to run a game off the disc. A 4x blu-ray drive has a faster data transfer rate than a DVD drive running at 12x.

    The difference is that a blu-ray drive runs at a constant speed, it will always run at 4x (in this example). So while you can run a game off a blu-ray it isn't an ideal situation.

    Plus hard drives are always going to be quicker than optical drives.

    Well it won't play 3D blu-ray. If any other blu-ray, DVD, game disc work fine, the issue is with the thor regular version.

    I have a similar situation - an older, but very nice A/V Receiver without HDMI-in but does do DTS (why upgrade when it works perfectly). I run everything optical through it and HDMI directly to the TV, but now I won't get surround at all from the Xbox One
    until they patch it?! So games, Blu-rays, TV pass-thru, everything will be down-mixed to stereo until then? That's ridiculous.

    So much for being the "One" as I have to keep my 3D Blu-ray player for 3D Blu-rays and watching regular Blu-rays and DVDs in surround :-(
