    Blu Ray Player


    Is anyone else having a problem with the Blu Ray player? Today i went to watch a movie so i put the disk in and it didn't do anything. It didn't even read the disk. So i put in CoD and it made a weird sound like the gears were stuck but it played the game.
    So i put the movie back in and it still didn't read it. Then i restarted the system and it read the disk then. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it happening.

    See, and I'm totally the opposite. I don't buy tons of movies anymore, but when I do, I buy the Blu-ray version. Most of the time it comes with a regular dvd anyways. I almost use my PS3 exclusively to play Blu-rays. Nine out of ten times if I buy a game, I buy it for the Xbox. The only time I play the PS3 is for the Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted or GoW.

    sounds like your drive could be on the way out, if it continues to do so, I would contact Microsoft support

    For real what that guy said...i downloaded the blu ray app and tested the dark knight on it cuzz i heard of a few problems people were having with the app....everything worked fine for me but you shouldnt be hearing a grinding noise at all.

    If its that grinding noise you hear turn the Xbox upside down with the power unplugged and hit it where the blue-ray drive is works 75% of the time

    Not anymore that ended on Dec 31st, Had the drive go out on mine and did the advanced replacement which went great btw called Saturday console arrived this morning just got to drop off the return at the UPS drop point tomorrow.

    OP sounds like your drive is dying also id call support and start the process.

    Yea i have that all installed and everything, i put in Dead Rising and that worked right away, then i put in CoD and it says it couldn't read disk so i cleaned it and it work right away, but it still won't read blu ray movies. It will read DVD movies but
    every time i put in a blu ray movie it says it can't read it and to put in an Xbox one disk, blu ray disk, or DVD disk.

    You have to have the Blue Ray app installed to watch blue ray movies. If you have it installed and they don't work, first try a hard reboot, if it still doesn't work uninstall the app and re-install it.

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
    Blu Ray players.

    IMHO a stand alone Blu-Ray player is always going to do a better job of playing Blu-Rays than a console. As you already own the 3D Blu-ray player what's the issue?

    Why not buy a 3D blu-ray player its not like they cost much and the Xbox One uses software for Blu-ray playback unlike proper Blu-ray players.

    I can provide you with some basic tips so long.

    Set up and install the Blu-ray and DVD player app on Xbox

    To watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your Xbox console, you first need to install the Blu-ray Player app. To install the app, choose one of the following options.

    Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Home, and then select Store.

    Select Search and enter Blu-ray in the search bar. Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears in the list of results.

    Select Install to download and install the app.

    Insert a Blu-ray or DVD disc into your Xbox.

    Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears.

    On the Blu-ray Player app details page, select Install.

    Your disc should start playing automatically.

    After the app is installed, you can watch Blu-ray or DVD movies by inserting the disc into your Xbox console and selecting Blu-ray Player on the Home screen, or by finding it under My games & apps
