    Blu ray player wont play uhd or blu ray discs due to hdcp issue on xbox one s


    this is an ongoing issue, apologies but first xbox and have the hdcp issue and wont play blu ray or uhd

    tv is hisense 50k3300uw and has a 4k hdmi port with hdcp 2.2 but xbox one s has error message (will play blu ray on other hdmi port 1.4)

    tried the restart

    tried the switching cable

    tried the swapping ports and still same issue

    xbox is 2 weeks old , any help would be great

    Xbox One S Blu-ray 4k Blu-ray

    The Blu-ray player app, even when running on an Xbox One S, does not recognize UHD Blu-ray discs.

    I looked up the error (91d70000) and it indicates that the format of the disc is unrecognized.

    The app lists UHD Blu-ray in the description, so I am assuming this is a bug, and not just unimplemented support.

    Hi there,

    based on some googling and the fact that you mention that it does work on a different HDMI 1.4 port I have a feeling that this could very well be caused by the TV itself and not the console.

    If that is the case there is nothing that can be done on the console side.

    Usually Blu dvds work in xbox. Have you contact xbox support.

    Thanks bud, im considering that as well but when connecting the xbox for gaming no hassles with getting 4k resolution

    i know it has been an issue on and off, since some posts dating back to 2016 havent contacted support yet thought i would try the community first

    Nope, not quite right.

    Original Xbox - DVD

    Xbox 360 - DVD (or more specifically, DVD-9).

    Xbox One - Blu-ray

    Xbox One S and X - UHD Blu-ray drive, but games still on standard Blu-ray.

    Scarlet will have a UHD BD drive so that can still play all formats of movie discs. Likely that games will be on 100GB discs.

    "Ultra HD" Blu-Rays will play in 4K. Standard Blu-Rays will play in 1080p.

    The Xbox One S will only output to the highest resolution offered by the Blu-Ray disc it plays.

    I suppose this design choice was in mind because 4K/UHD-TVs already process and upscale a lower resolution image to "cleanly" use all of the 3840x2160 pixels, so it's not putting unnecessary load on the Xbox One S CPU.

    I love everything about the Xbox S except for the 4k blue ray player. I bought 2 4k UHD disks, The Revenant and Star Trek Into Darkness. The Revenant had major audio sync problems which just come and go. Star Trek Into Darkness would not even load. Returned

    Hopefully Microsoft will be able to fix this quickly.

    Simple Enquiry...

    Xbox One discs are Dual Layer BD-ROM discs 50 GB, which is pretty much standard now. In addition, the One S and the One X can also read UHD Blu-ray feature film discs. Neither the One S or One X can read BDXL discs, I don't know enough about the hardware
    to say for sure if this is due to a hardware or software issue. Note that despite the similar storage capabilities, UHD Movie Blu-ray discs are factory pressed, while BDXL is a writable format largely for burning discs with a PC.

    Despite the One S and the One X's ability to read UHD discs, they will not be used for Game media.

    Sure, it is random but I'd say it's safe to conclude that when trying same discs on another UHD player with the same setup and the discs work, that the problem is with the Xbox One S/Blu-Ray application.
