Blu Ray Player won't play blu Rays

hello

maybe about 2 months ago a blu Ray disc wouldn't play in my Xbox one through the blu Ray app, I believe it was a Miyazaki film. I thought it might have just been something wrong with this disc, But every blu Ray movie I have tried since hasn't worked also.
DVDs work fine and the same error pops up whenever i try to play a blu Ray, "Please try a different disc. We cannot play this one. (0x91d70001)". Some of These bluray I have played before and they have worked before.

See, and I'm totally the opposite. I don't buy tons of movies anymore, but when I do, I buy the Blu-ray version. Most of the time it comes with a regular dvd anyways. I almost use my PS3 exclusively to play Blu-rays. Nine out of ten times if I buy a game, I buy it for the Xbox. The only time I play the PS3 is for the Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted or GoW.

If DVD's are working fine but no Blu-Ray disc works, unfortunately that sounds like your Xbox One console's disc drive is failing. You'll want to consider having your console serviced by the
Online Service Center.

had the same problem until i set the tv hdmi 1 channel to 'GAME MODE' from standard mode. works a treat now.

I bought a refurbished Xbox One a couple of years ago and I had this problem. Sometimes blu rays & DVDs work, but most of the time they don't. Very disappointing. None of the solutions in the forums work. I even sent my Xbox One in to have Microsoft
look at it since it was covered under warranty. I did that twice, but they didn't fix it.

No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
Blu Ray players.

I purchased "The River" Blu Ray at my local fly fishing shop the other day and it will not play in my Xbox One.

I brought it to a friend's house that has other Blu Ray players and it works just fine in the non-Xbox Blu Ray players (it won't work in his Xbox One either.)

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

IMHO a stand alone Blu-Ray player is always going to do a better job of playing Blu-Rays than a console. As you already own the 3D Blu-ray player what's the issue?

multi-format drives designed to read both (I have two).

Beyond the physical inability to read an HD DVD in a Blu-ray drive, there's the issue of software. HDi Interactive Format was the standard used to create HD DVD menus and other content on-disc outside of the actual movie files. Blu-ray uses scripts and Java.
Unless playback software can understand HDi Interactive Format, HD DVD menus won't work and the disc won't play.

If it was possible for Blu-ray players to play HD DVD, people wouldn't be holding onto HD DVD drives.

@dude, I think they say that cause your not allowed to comment about future hardware the other person may have not known and said it out. but lets all ask our selfs this...a blu-ray player plays blu-rays regular or 3D why would Xbox one will be to only Blu-ray
player on the planet that plays regular blu-ray? regular blu-ray and 3D blu-rays use the same disc fame format just written diffrently on the disc but both can be picked up by the same laser, yes yes, and yes It plays 3D movies and games
