Blu Ray Player will not read movies

Same problem for a while now. The only solution I've found so far, is holding on to the disc for 3 to 10 seconds while the box tries to suck it in (sometimes repeatedly) until it works. This always works eventually, but Microsoft really needs to come up
with a better solution.

 

I’m still having issues playing bluray movies. No problem with games, dvds and even 3d blurays.

it doesn’t pop an error code up... just says “NO DISC” when i launch the bluray app.

The only solution I found to this was what someone mentioned about holding the Blu ray for 3 seconds while it kicks over. Then letting it go. It works every time if I do this. Otherwise I just get the 'Please insert a game, dvd, or blu ray' message. I find
it's the worst with Disney BluRays.

 

mine is working fine now... i have watched 3 different blu ray movies with no problem at all.

 

Also having issues. Repo: The Genetic Opera Blu-Ray. This is the second disc that will not play (We're having trouble reading this... blah blah blah), having returned it to Amazon (at my expense) the first time because I took the suggestion of MS and tried
to ensure it wasn't the disc. Evidently it is not.

I have disabled the BD Live feature, have powered down the unit via 10-second press, uninstalled the app and reinstalled, and uninstalled then power cycled then reinstalled - all with no success.

 

Insert disc is all I get. Is there a fix or not?

 

Yeah. I've also run into several cases where XBONE will not play Blu-Rays. My wife tired two last night: Shaw of the Dead and The Dark Knight. Both resulted in the spinning white disk for several minutes then nothing. Get used to it. M$ has laid off most
of their testers because they figure that their customers will tolerate being beta-testers for their half-baked implementations.

Never have these kinds of issues with consumer product from Sony, Amazon or Apple. Only M$. They play the numbers and figure they sell enough units that if some of the people have problems with some of their functionality it won't matter in the long run.
Yet, they continued to be baffled as to why people hesitate to buy their consumer products.

Save yourself some stress and buy your hardware from a company that believes in getting it right the first time. XBox Music is another great example of software that only works "most of the time" for "most of the use-cases."

 

I had a similar problem where the blue blu-ray screen was up and I could hear sound from the movie but no picture. I was online with xbox support for a while and we could not come up with a solution. So they decided to have me send it in for repair. Before
I send it back I went into the settings and did the restore to factory defaults. It was a pain in the *** redownloading the games and updates but I haven't had a problem with my xbox one playing blu-rays since.

 

I have several blue rays that have never worked on xbox one.

I can watch dvds fine every time. Games are sometimes a little hit and miss but blu rays are a real lottery.

This evening pulled my Lord of the rings blu Ray set off the shelf. Had to put the disk in a few times for fellowship but once it worked it was faultless.

The Two Towers or Return of the King will not play. I take those out and put avengers assemble in and it works fussy time so it is not a power management issue.

Clearing persistent storage, turning off bd live abd turned off 24Hz with no effect.

Take that and put War of the Worlds the new generation stage show and it refuses to play.

All these disks work in my blu Ray laptop or my original blu Ray player.

MS this really is not acceptable. Some of us are in limited income and have to save for months to get your hardware. The fact that a 30 quid blue ray player outperforms my 429 pound paper weight is not acceptable.

We would all prefer you fix this issue rather than ignore our requests for help.
