Blu Ray Player will not read movies

I'm just curious how our optical disc drives can be going bad...The console hasn't even been out a full year yet

Even the most hardcore gamer/movie watcher couldn't have put that many hours on it yet. My drive is also having issues and I'd say I watch 2-5 hours of movies (mostly bluray) a day...but i feel like that shouldn't matter that much...I used to game much more
than that on my xbox 360 and have never had a problem in many years...are blue ray readers just that crappy? I love what the medium has the potential for...but is that why every game has a 10 gb or higher install....so the drive doesn't have to work much?

 

I'm getting the same issue. The app loads fine but won't play the disc. Just a black screen. I can get the controls up on screen but get the red circle at the top left corner to show I can't do that. Just a blank screen. Installed games work fine but haven't
tried any new ones.

 

I had this problem once, this is how I fixed it.

Delete the Blu Ray Player app.

HARD REBOOT THE XBOX (HOLD THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL IT TURNS OFF)

Redownload the Blu Ray App

 

I'm having this same issue plus many others. I've done the full reboot many times, turned on/off the 24Hz option, cleared persistent storage, uninstalled/reinstalled most apps including blu-Ray app and still no luck. My Kinect broke, along with many apps
at the same time (blu-Ray, Ted talks, amazon, etc). Luckily the games play but I didn't spend $1000 on my Day One Edition (plus accessories) so it can fall apart after 9 months.

 

I'm having the blue ray disc screen with white loading circle, I can hear the audio just can't see the movie. Tried reinstalling with no luck

 

Unable to insert DVD or Blu-ray movie. Restarted Xbox, powered off and unplugged. Still nothing.

 

We're all getting the same problem.....It's amazing how Microsoft is not seeing this on their end.

Ive tried everything forwards and backwards. The hard reboot doesn't work, deleting and re-installing the app, and took my profile off and put it back on. Something needs to be done Im not replacing a perfectly good xbox to get another and wait until the
same thing happens again.

 

Same here. Had a black screen first, but then I got the message that this BluRay (Prometheus to Alien 5-Disc-Set) requires an update?

Hard reboot didn't help at all. Any idea?

Having the same issue no DVD movie or Blu-ray movie will work in Xbox one, I get black screen with message please insert disc. The same discs work fine in my regular DVD player and the DVD works without an issue on my Xbox 360 but not on the xbox one

 

I have just tried playing a new Blu ray I got Harry Potter and the half blood prince

I loaded the Blu ray into the drive

the app started and the Silverlight esq spinning circle load indicator stayed

after about 20 seconds the audio started In the movie but the screen stays blue with blue ray splash screen and load indicator..

that's weird I thought

I stopped it tried another blu ray ( which had worked previously Batman the dark knight rises)

same thing

I have tried checking the audio settings,

cleared the persistent storage

enabled and disabled bd live functionality

tried 24hz and 50 hz playback refresh rates

full powered off of the console ( with power cable in )

wait 20 seconds turn on

i mean if the console reads games fines ( well i have two discs i use the rest are digital downloaded from the store) but the audio plays not video this is weird and suggesting the hardware is physically capable of reading the audio track from the disc

surely this is pointing towards a software problem

i don`t want to return my xbox and then wait for a replacement and then have to re download all my games again ryse , forza , tombraider, ea mma , kinnect sports , max , titanfall that's nearly 200gb according to my disk use indicator

I've done this:

hold power button,

unplug console,

delete and reinstall bluray app.

any other suggestion?

 

A few days ago I updated again like Microsoft asked me to. This time my Blu Ray player doesn't work. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. NOTHING! Just says "No disc in the drive." I did the whole power the xbox down 10 secs, unplug and nothing. So I got
so frustrated I reset my whole xbox to the originally settings and re-downloaded all my games and apps. Guess what.... Still not letting me use my Blu Ray player. My games work, but can't talk to anybody. And now I can't watch movies. Does anyone else have
any of these issues lately? Thanks

 

I have the same issue... still waiting for a solution... my problem is only with blu ray movies
