Blu Ray Player will not read movies

Same thing just got kill bill 1&2 and wolf of Wall Street on blu ray and the box tells me to insert disc, it won't even recognize kill bill to turn itself on when I put the disc in. Also had that grinding noise the MC recommends sending in the box for a
replacement. What a hassle all for a [Mod Removed] blu ray movie which it's technologies been around for almost a decade. Weak sauce Microsoft. WEAK

    :)

What's the differences between the Xbox One S and the Xbox One

Dont forget 4k blu-ray player. The only other one is selling for 399.99. Xbox one s is a steal for 4k blu-ray. For any movie fans wanting the best quality in there movies.

Yea i have that all installed and everything, i put in Dead Rising and that worked right away, then i put in CoD and it says it couldn't read disk so i cleaned it and it work right away, but it still won't read blu ray movies. It will read DVD movies but
every time i put in a blu ray movie it says it can't read it and to put in an Xbox one disk, blu ray disk, or DVD disk.

    ROBDIABLO,

I had the same issue with Frozen. I found that setting the age to 9 allows PG movies which is what Frozen is rated.

    SeattleRic,

That makes sense as far as the child account goes, however, I'm not sure why if me or my wife is logged in that the child restrictions would carry over. We should be able to watch whatever we wanted since we are both unrestricted but it didn't work that
way. If I switched to either of us, we still received the 'parental setting' message. That sounds like it could be a bug. But thanks for the heads up on the PG setting, that will help a bit.

I'm getting the blue screen with the white circle. I love my xbox one and titanfall and all that. But lately, seriously getting fed up with this console. Any further developments on how to fix the blu ray player?

This thread has diverged in a couple different directions. I'll try to address everything.

    1. If you have a Blu-ray disc that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, get the "No disc in the drive", or "Please enter a Game, DVD, Blu-ray, or CD disc into the drive" error messages, then your Optical Disc Drive is possibly going bad, and you should call
Xbox Customer Support. The error messages occur because the drive couldn't identify what type disc was inserted. I believe the people clearing of persistant storage, turning off BDLive, or trying factory resets, that are reporting that fixes the problem are
just a coincidence, and that their issues will come back. The same applies for the people who reported games & DVDs working, but Blu-ray never works. Some of these people later replied to me and said games stopped working eventually as well.
    2. If you have a specific Blu-ray disc that never works, but all other Blu-ray discs work, then let me know. The Blu-ray spec is poor, authoring standards are not enforced, and we're still finding discs here or there that we are just incompatible with. That's
why all Blu-ray players need updates all of the time. This is an example of what happened with Game of Thrones Season 3.
    3. Blu-ray blocked because of parental control level. The Xbox defaults to the lowest age of all profiles signed in. So if you're on an unrestricted profile, but your child is also signed in with an age 6 profile, then all movies PG and higher will be blocked.
DVDs will prompt you to enter the 4-digit parental code and let playback continue. Blu-ray doesn't have that feature, and you will have to sign out the child profile, quit the Blu-ray app, and restart it, to get playback to proceed. Even the super expensive
Oppo Blu-ray player has this problem, and forces you to completely back out of the movie and turn off parental controls to get the disc to play. Blu-ray forgot to spec a callback to the app to tell us playback was blocked, and they block playback inside their
Java code, so there is no chance for us to prompt you for the 4-digit parental code.

    Ah, I forgot one.

    1. Blue screen with the white circle. We've never seen this, maybe someone can send me a screenshot, or post a video up?

I have to recant part of that statement. There is a bug being fixed for April where the ODD sometimes doesn't correctly come back from it's low power "sleep" state. You can test if you are hitting this issue. If your game disc won't play, remove the power,
plug it back in, and see if the disc works.

IM SO L7, do game discs and DVDs work and only Blu-ray fails? That sounds like your ODD might be failing and you should call Xbox customer support.

Double check you aren't hitting the power saving bug by pulling the power plug and doing a full cold boot, but if you still have the issue you will need to call Xbox Customer Support and probably replace your console.

    My problem is very similar.

Sometimes certain Bluray movies work every time, but then other times a different movie is inserted, and you can't hear the drive start to spin, and I get "no disc." I can take the disc out, reinsert it and usually 2-3x of this method and the drive will
spin and it'll work. But last night no matter what I did with The Amazing Spider-Man Bluray disc (reinserted it about 25x) it would not spin and I kept getting "no disc." Also, a few times the Bluray drive sort of "honked" like it was thinking about spinning,
    but it just never did.

This never happens with game discs as all my Xbox One games work fine.

Does this mean my drive is going bad, or is it just certain movies that will be updated with the April bug fix? I hate to have to replace my whole Xbox One console for this if I don't have to.
