Blu-Ray Player problems

Lately whenever I try to play a *BRAND NEW* Blu-Ray, the disc drive will make a griding noise, and won't register that it has a disc inside. I have to mess around and insert the Blu-Ray, or completely turn off my Xbox and unplug it. But it'll play and read
DVDs perfectly fine without a problem. Is it something to do with the disc drive, the app, or the Blu-Rays I'm watching?

See, and I'm totally the opposite. I don't buy tons of movies anymore, but when I do, I buy the Blu-ray version. Most of the time it comes with a regular dvd anyways. I almost use my PS3 exclusively to play Blu-rays. Nine out of ten times if I buy a game, I buy it for the Xbox. The only time I play the PS3 is for the Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted or GoW.

Are you part of the beta program?because i heard there where issues similar to yours if not i would say your disc drive may be messing up and need a replacement maybe

No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
Blu Ray players.

Update for the Blu-Ray Player fixed the problem.

My point was and still is, that a PS3 or a computer with a Blu-Ray drive rely on software for playback so both can be affected by whatever software/OS is running in the background. A stand alone Blu-ray player does not have that problem.

I assume that it will be the same with the Xbox One as an app is needed for playback of BR's.

I had this problem once, this is how I fixed it.

Delete the Blu Ray Player app.

HARD REBOOT THE XBOX (HOLD THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL IT TURNS OFF)

Redownload the Blu Ray App

IMHO a stand alone Blu-Ray player is always going to do a better job of playing Blu-Rays than a console. As you already own the 3D Blu-ray player what's the issue?
