Blu-ray player on XBox One X won't play 4K/HDR movies

With our Xbox One X and HDR TV, we are able to play games (e.g. Assassins Creed Origins) in 4K/HDR. The TV visibly switches into HDR mode and it looks great. We have also been able to stream 4K movies. But we have tried two different
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs (Deadpool and The Fifth Element) and the menus load fine and function normally, but when the movie starts, the audio plays but the video freezes on one of the first frames (black screen). When we try to randomly jump to a location
in the movie, the same thing happens. The app seems to try to play the video but then it kind of glitches and hangs after a few frames. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Blu-ray player app. I'm not sure what else to do.

4k movie

When playing a 4k blu-ray, my xbox one x is dropping to 1080 p. I can game at 4k without problem. My TV is 4k but does not have HDR. How can I get my movies to play at the full 4k resolution.

TV is Samsung uhd8550 4k without hdr

4K Passthrough?

I saw it has HDMI 2.0B thingy on this site.

If say you connect an Xbox One X to your 4K HDTV, you should still be able to:

1. Download the YouTube and Netflix apps, onto your Xbox One X, and still be able to watch in 4k 60fps?

2. Use Xbox One X 4k Blu-ray player to watch 4k Blu-ray disc movies in 4k 60fps?

3. Play games on Xbox One X, in 4k 60fps?

.... right?

I have the same issue.

Disabling the setting: Settings-> Disc & Blu-ray-> Blu-ray-> Let receiver decode audio, fixed the issue on the majority of my 4k Blu-rays.

However Fifth Element still will not work, exact issue as you described.

I am using an LG OLED 65 C7P, and LG sk10y sound-bar for Atmos (using HDMI ARC, as required), (all on latest firmware/software).

I have read other articles stating these issues are patched on the XboxOne, but I am on latest software version and still experience these issues.

Curious if anyone else is still experiencing this issue

Yes, 4K HDR Dolby Vision works with the Blu-Ray player and NetFlix on the Xbox One X.

This console will sell to a lot of non gamers because of the blu-ray and 4k, and HDR. The real movie buffs might be interested as it's a class blu-ray player with a great price.

I never bought the S but like I said I do already have a 4K tv with HDR. I do not currently have a 4K blu Ray player either so that was another draw. Just didn't know how much of a difference the picture quality would be In general since I've never experienced
it in person

You'll notice more of a pop with 4k Blu-ray or streaming movies/videos. The 4k enhanced games I've played show a smaller difference. Definitely worth the 500 bones to upgrade my main X Box, though not in a rush to upgrade the others;
I still play and watch movies on the original and S, so it's not like,"Oh my GOSH! I MUST have X Box One X throughout the house or my life won't be complete!" type of good. Lol.

Upscaling basically stretches the picture to match the resolution of your display (e.g. 1080p game/movie will be stretched to fit your 4K display resolution). The main difference between the S and X is the hardware, which is mainly utilized for games. The
S will render games up to 1080p and upscale to 4K. The X is able to render and output at native 4K (only if the game is "Xbox One X Enhanced").

Both the Xbox One S and Xbox One X play 4K movies the same. They can both output movies in
native 4K, as well as optionally support HDR (HDR10 profile). You just have to be sure that you are streaming in 4K or use a UHD Blu-Ray, and your TV set supports it.

Go for the Xbox One S if you want a 4K movie player with the option to game. If its movies you only care about, and you want to spend the
least amount of money, then go for the LG player you mentioned.
