Blu-ray player needs an update error when trying to play Victor Frankenstein blu-ray disc

Set up and install the Blu-ray and DVD player app on Xbox

To watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your Xbox console, you first need to install the Blu-ray Player app. To install the app, choose one of the following options.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Home, and then select Store.

Select Search and enter Blu-ray in the search bar. Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears in the list of results.

Select Install to download and install the app.

Insert a Blu-ray or DVD disc into your Xbox.

Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears.

On the Blu-ray Player app details page, select Install.

Your disc should start playing automatically.

After the app is installed, you can watch Blu-ray or DVD movies by inserting the disc into your Xbox console and selecting Blu-ray Player on the Home screen, or by finding it under My games & apps

The latest update did not fix the playback issue with Game of Thrones Season 3 on Blu-Ray.

Some users may encounter the error that was causing the Xbox to not read the disc, again, even after updating the Blu-Ray player app.

To work around this, fire up the Blu-Ray app with no disc in your Xbox.

You'll be prompted that there is no disc in your drive.

Insert Game of Thrones season 3 blu-ray into your drive.

that only partially works. what needs to be done, which is what I did....

delete blu ray player app. delete/uninstall the last game and updates that you downloaded.

do the steps above.

make sure to use a disc to REINSTALL your game FIRST. this will force the disc drive to recognize blu rays again.

then try to play a blu ray movie.

should work after that. did for me, anyway

We understand it is frustrating since the Xbox One S will not read the Blu-ray discs. Now when you try to watch any Blu-ray discs, does the system display an error or message?

Does the console play Game discs or CDs? Also, please make sure you have the Blu-ray player installed on the console. This is not an app that is pre-installed.
