    Hello, there is a feature in all standalone blu-ray players that is named "night mode", it is very useful as it normalizes de audio and in addition uses, if what I have read is true, some data in the audio track for this purpose. As said it is really a
    very useful for watching movies at night, and for old movies remastered to 5.1, because the old dubbing (people talking) in 1.0 and remastered audio (sound effects and music) in 5.1 has a huge difference level.

    IMHO a stand alone Blu-Ray player is always going to do a better job of playing Blu-Rays than a console. As you already own the 3D Blu-ray player what's the issue?

    I don't need to download an app to use my Blu-ray player and it updates its own firmware.

    Xbox One can play Blu-Rays, you just need to download the Blu-Ray Player app for it, & it's free too.

    To watch DVD's or Blu-rays on your Xbox One you need to have the Blu-ray Player App installed and up to date!

    You can set the App to install from your Xbox Store by searching for it or here: Blu-ray Player App

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
    Blu Ray players.
