    BLU-RAY PLAYER FAILING TO LAUNCH


    Hi,

    I am unable to play any Blu Ray or normal DVDs on my Xbox One S console. The Blu-Ray Player fails to launch, the message states it has taken too long to launch. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but keep getting the same message.

    Please can someone help me with troubleshooting this?

    See, and I'm totally the opposite. I don't buy tons of movies anymore, but when I do, I buy the Blu-ray version. Most of the time it comes with a regular dvd anyways. I almost use my PS3 exclusively to play Blu-rays. Nine out of ten times if I buy a game, I buy it for the Xbox. The only time I play the PS3 is for the Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted or GoW.

    I should add that I have tried the same DVDs in my Xbox 360 and they play without any issues. The Blu Ray discs are not 4K they are standard Blu Ray.

    Somebody gave me a tip on another post which has solved my problem. I shall share it here in case someone has the same issue.

    Go to Settings > Blu-Ray > Clear Persistent Storage. Reboot the Xbox One, then it worked.

    It's not an intuitive solution and I'm surprised Microsoft don't have this included in an FAQ (I have searched high and low).

    Hey, guys, I'm having the same issue with my Xbox one not playing dvds. When I put the disc in the Blu-ray player app launches and then gives me this message. "We are having trouble reading this. Make sure it's a Blu-ray or DVD. If it's a game try launching
    it from your game & app instead ( 0x91d70000) ". It plays Blu-ray and game discs just fine.

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
    Blu Ray players.

    There was a patch for the Blu-Ray player released earlier this morning. For more information you can read the details here:

    You can now insert a Game of Thrones season 3 disc and the blu-ray player will launch and request you confirm the update. Once updated, you'll be able to watch your favorite show.
