Blu ray player app still not working in 2023!?

Are you sure your drive is functional?

Will Xbox 360 games recognize for example?

By "download" do you mean read the disc?

The blu ray app itself would not download. I had to clear cashe, power cycle, update Microsoft store and then once that updated after a half hour of showing no progress, I was able to download the blu ray player.

I'm having the same problem. I have a disc that works on other blu-ray players, but stutters on my xbox one. The disc is brand new too. I uninstalled the blu-Ray app and reinstalled, but still get the same problem.

My point was and still is, that a PS3 or a computer with a Blu-Ray drive rely on software for playback so both can be affected by whatever software/OS is running in the background. A stand alone Blu-ray player does not have that problem.

I assume that it will be the same with the Xbox One as an app is needed for playback of BR's.
