Blu-Ray player app regularly taking too long to start

I keep getting problems with the Blu Ray player app on our X-Box One X. We were watching a DVD on Sunday and it was fine. Stopped it part-way through to finish watching it the next day. The DVD was removed from the X-Box. The next day on trying to watch
the DVD again the Blu Ray player app launched its blue splash screen but then did not start and generated the error "For some reason Blu Ray player took too long to start (0x8027025a)". The X-Box had not been used for anything else in the intervening time.
A soft reset did not solve the problem.

This error has happened before, requiring a factory reset to fix. In this case it prevented us from finishing watching the film because we would not have had time to do the full factory reset and finish the DVD.
Having to often do a factory reset is surely not really a proper solution though - if we cannot rely on the player working from one day to the next when the machine has not been used in the intervening time, surely this suggests there is an underlying
    problem?

    :)

Unfortunately, I've hit this bump in the road quite a few times. My suggestion(s) would be to make sure the Blueray app installed right (I had this issue before and had to uninstall it to get it to work). Also, check the disc in something else if you can.
If it doesn't work in another device you may need a replacement DVD. If it does work in something else except the Blu-ray app, feel free to come back and let us know so we can continue to help!

(One last thing though but I find unlikely is
    region
    issues.)

When I had this problem previously I tried uninstalling & reinstalling the Blueray app and that made no difference - I'll try it again I suppose.

I can't check the disc in something else as we don't have a standalone Bluray player. The frustrating thing is that we were watching the film the night before and it was working OK.

The problem also manifests itself with other DVDs.

And it's not a region issue.

The Blueray app seems to be unstable on our X-Box. Is this a common problem?

That's unfortunate to hear. From my experience apps do get a little twisted. Even on my Xbox One X, I've encountered the "too long to start" error so I suppose it could be considered "common" but again who knows. Hopefully, additional Ambassadors/support
    may know an answer.

Just in case I'll leave links to support pages I've checked. I may have glanced over something and someone else may catch it!

    Hi Capt,

Try what Diego has mentioned, that should help with the issue. Sometimes OS files get corrupt and need to be refreshed.
