Blu-ray issues on One S

Any regular bluray i use gets upscaled.

First, apologies for never responding to this! I thought I was the last one that responded, and just never saw you update the thread. This is totally my fault. Many apologies!

Before we continue with testing on the upscaling issue, there was an update to the Blu-ray app over the weekend. We believe that this should resolve the Star Wars 3D issue. Give that a shot, and let me know how it goes. Just to say we did, test out the upscaling
and let me know if that's still the same.

That is OK... I probably would have never seen this again if I didn't have a bookmark for it. The forums do not seem to notify me of an update on threads I start.

I tested Star Wars and it worked fine.

I tried another regular Blu-ray and my TV said it was in an up scaled resolution.

Is there any possibility of getting in the preview program for the Blu-ray so I can test the bit stream output? Maybe that release will correct the upscale issue.

We are actually working on the notifications for threads! We do have a
My Discussions section where you should be able to see responses (a work in progress, though), however the email notifications is something we're trying to flesh out. You can always check for updates on improvements we're making in

this sticky. :3

I'm happy to see Star Wars is working fine for you now! While I am not able to push you into a preview for a specific app, I do see that you are accepted into the preview program. Have you registered your console yet? If you have, you should be able to submit
feedback through your console. If you do that, it gets routed to the right people to look into. I'll also dig into it again on my side. Because I haven't yet in this thread, I'll include my signature in case you need a link to the Insider Forums themselves
(I double checked to make sure you have access to them now). I'll get back to you ASAP on what I find out about the upscaling!

I wanted to follow up to let you know that not only am I seeing what you're seeing, but I am also trying to find out if there was a change since the last information we got back in August. I'll let you know once I hear back what the by design status is supposed
to be.

And I have just received word back! I've been able to confirm that the current design is to have 2D Blu-ray discs (not UHD discs) upscale in the Blu-ray app automatically if it is supported by the TV. However, 3D Blu-ray discs will not upscale.

While it's good that we finally have an answer on this (and I appreciate your patience while we dug into it), I understand this might not be an answer you wanted to hear. What I would like to invite you to do is post up a suggestion on our
Feedback site to let the right people know that the functionality should be that the discs do not upscale if they are not UHD discs.

It appears that since we have an answer for the regular Blu-rays, and Star Wars is now resolved, we've got you sorted out! Please do post back if you have further questions, though! We're always happy to clarify anything if it needs to be done.

UPDATE: Xbox One S returned. No solution for audio sync issue on DVD/Blu-ray playback.

After scouring the internet I cannot find a solution. The Xbox Support seems to be correct. There was an issue with the Xbox One S where the audio was not in sync with the video on DVD and Blu-ray playback. I returned the Xbox One S.

Hopefully few other experience the issue.

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
the Blu-Ray app.

Sorry to hear about the issue. Is this with a specific Blu-ray movie, or is this occurring with multiple different blu-rays? Additionally, do you own an Xbox One or Xbox One S console? Post back with that information we can start narrowing down the issue.

There are a number of AV issues with the Xbox One S/X and UHD Blu-ray playback, your guess is as good as mine if they will be fixed.

Certain UHD titles are broken and will not play.

Dolby Atmos is unreliable.

4K AV receiver HDMI handshaking issues.

Image quality issues, the wrong color matrix being used in Blu-ray playback (see review comparison

in link).

They could have broken something on the One S in their rush to fix the broken Blu-ray HDR on the One X with the 10.0.16299.4037 that includes said HDR fix.
