    Blu-ray issues on One S

I have a 500GB One S purchased on day one. Have had numerous with the device and will be warranty the device here soon but in the mean time I purchased The Force Awakens in 3D yesterday and the disc does not play in 3D. Ninja Turtles plays fine in 3D.

So I reset console and tried again last night before going to sleep and still didn't work. Tried it this morning and it worked. Tried it tonight after supper it did not work

Anyone have any ideas to get this working consistent I have a bunch of friends coming over for a Star Wars showing on Sunday?

    :)

    The Xbox One S 4K Blu-Ray Player Is A Disaster...Good Job!!

There are a number of AV issues with the Xbox One S/X and UHD Blu-ray playback, your guess is as good as mine if they will be fixed.

Certain UHD titles are broken and will not play.

    Dolby Atmos is unreliable.

4K AV receiver HDMI handshaking issues.

Image quality issues, the wrong color matrix being used in Blu-ray playback (see review comparison

    in link
    ).

They could have broken something on the One S in their rush to fix the broken Blu-ray HDR on the One X with the 10.0.16299.4037 that includes said HDR fix.

  3. 4k problems ono xbox one s

I love everything about the Xbox S except for the 4k blue ray player. I bought 2 4k UHD disks, The Revenant and Star Trek Into Darkness. The Revenant had major audio sync problems which just come and go. Star Trek Into Darkness would not even load. Returned
it and the second one would not load. At that point I started searching the Internet and found that many are having issues with the 4k blue ray player. Here is a thread at AVS detailing many of the issues. www.avsforum.com/.../2481633-xbox-one-s-uhd-blu-ray-player-aug-2016-a.html

Hopefully Microsoft will be able to fix this quickly.

    Hey there -

If one 3D Blu-Ray disc works but not the other, I would suggest exchanging your Star Wars: The Force Awakens disc for a new one from your retailer first and see if that helps.

Give that a shot and let us know if it helps or not.

    Hey there ih8lag -

So turns out that there may be a way to work around the issue of your Xbox One not playing TFA in 3D. Start up your movie, double-tap your Xbox button, open the Settings app, wait for it to open up, press "B" to back out to the Blu-Ray app and your movie
    should start playing in 3D.

Additionally, we'd like to collect some information from you, if you don't mind, as we've seen this crop up with a few other people as well. Information we'd like to have:

*Console OS version? (Settings > System > Console info & updates)

    *TV make and model?

*Have you uninstalled/reinstalled the Blu-Ray app?

*Did the workaround steps suggested work?

Do keep us posted if it works or not so we can stay in the loop!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I really do not like the forums I was never notified of reply to my message until I received a message yesterday.

The above work around did indeed work.

    OS Version: 10.0.14393.2123

    TV: Sony XBR55X850C

Uninstalled the app and reinstall no difference even factory reset the console.

As well I have also noticed... There is no way to turn off up scaling for Blu-ray playback. I have the resolution set to 1080P and allowed 4K for 4K content but blu-rays still playback at 3840x2160 4k resolution. I should be ale to let my TV do this upscale
not the Xbox as the upscaler in my TV is the No1 rated upscaler on the market in the Sony TV.

As well any time frame on the Bitstream output when it will be available

  7. Thanks for the information, lag!

We've got your information sent up to the right people, and they are actively looking into this now. We'll let you know once we have more information.

If you have your TV resolution in the Video Output on your console set to 1080p and the advanced settings having allow 4K checked, then the TV should be doing the upscaling. If it's set to 4K UHD, then the console does the upscaling. However, the Blu-Ray
app specifically shows discs that are regular HD in 1080p. If you are seeing it as in 4K quality, it's likely that your TV is doing the upscaling for you, especially if you have the TV resolution set to 1080p like I mentioned above. Let me know if that's the
    case! Blu-ray issues on One S :)

No it is a regular blu ray with the settings on the xbox it should not upscale but it is.

  10. Thanks for the clarification. Can you provide me with a picture of your Advanced Video Settings? This is the section in the settings where you have the boxes like "Allow 4K" checked. I want to check to see what we have there.

Perfect! Thanks for that! (I know that the images aren't all showing, but I can see them with my account.)

I know this is going to sound weird, but what happens if you uncheck "Allow 24Hz"? When the One S came out, we had some issues with it not upscaling to 4K when that was unchecked, and I want to test to see what it does for you. If that doesn't work, I'll
dig around with what we have here to see if I can see what you are. Blu-ray issues on One S :)

Just tried it... With 24Hz unchecked. Still is upscaling.

Well...darn. Alright, let me see what all I can do here to see what's going on. If I have to get the same movie, I will work with the right people to do that. Is it only happening to Ninja Turtles for you?

  15. First, apologies for never responding to this! I thought I was the last one that responded, and just never saw you update the thread. This is totally my fault. Many apologies!

Before we continue with testing on the upscaling issue, there was an update to the Blu-ray app over the weekend. We believe that this should resolve the Star Wars 3D issue. Give that a shot, and let me know how it goes. Just to say we did, test out the upscaling
and let me know if that's still the same.

Thanks so much for your patience. Again, I apologize for my mistake in missing your post. Hopefully we can continue sorting this out! Blu-ray issues on One S :)
