Blu Ray/DVD leads to static and flickering

I'm having issues with playing DVDs or Blu Rays on my Xbox X. My games work just fine, but once I insert a DVD with the Blu Ray app on, the display starts flickering, switching between static, black screens, and the images from the DVD. The audio is also

I've tried different HDMI cables. I've tried resetting the whole Xbox. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the blu ray app. Anyone have any tips or other ideas? I just want to watch a DVD once in a while!

Ok!! That solved it. It was the HDMI cable. I was using the original one from Xbox, but I switched to a newer one and now no more issues. It's strange to me that the old cable worked with games, but not with DVDs.

Anyway, it works now. Thank you so much for your help!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you're experiencing with your DVD/Blu Ray App.

I know you mentioned that you reset your console, but did you go with the option to reset the console [DELETE EVERYTHING]?

Let's try that one more time if you haven't done so already.

Again, If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
reset on your console by doing the following:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select System.
Select Console info & updates.
Select Reset console. [DELETE EVERYTHING]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything, go with that option. You will have to redownload all your profiles, games and apps. This troubleshooting method is usually
very effective. Hope this helps!

Previously, I saved my info instead of erasing everything. But I just spent another 20 minutes doing a full reset as instructed, but got the same result when I inserted a DVD: still the exact same flickering, switching
between static, black screens, and the images from the DVD.

Make sure to try a different HDMI cable and also plug into a different HDMI port on TV, if still gives issue, then go into video settings, https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/adjust-display-settings - also try to UNCHECK 24Hz box and
see if any change

No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
Blu Ray players.
