Blu ray doesn't work offline is BS

Why is it that Microsoft has so much time to keep dropping all these new systems and new games, but I can't even simply play my Blu ray offline? That's so much bs. I bought my xbox one because it had a Blu ray player. Yet I sit here offline and it doesn't
work. So I basically spend 500 nicks on something I can't use unless I'm online. This is hands down the dumbest thing Microsoft has ever done. Whoever thought of this should be fired. So Microsoft why don't you spent 10 minutes out of your time to fix this
bs and we can all move on. Honestly I'm about to just switch to Sony.

Blu Rays not playing!

How come some blu-Ray movies won't play? I know this has been an issue since the xbox one came out. Saying that it's an error on the disc is bs cause I can take it and put it in my blu-Ray player and it works fine.

Xbox one S does NOT work for UHD

loaded up the blu ray player. doesn't work. UHD disc doesn't work. Blu ray disc doesn't work. way to go MS. I bought your xbox one s, and it's worthless now. going to take it back in the morning

Hey there DARK FLAME27,

You can certainly use the Blu-ray player app offline. It's possible it needs an update prior to this though. To use the app offline as well as other functions of the console, you'll just need to put the console in Offline Mode and here's how.

Hi there. Xbox One Discs are Blu-Ray and use a different laser to DVD's (Xbox 360 games are also DVD's) If you have a Blu-Ray Movie to try you can see that if that doesn't work, then the Blu-Ray part of your optical drive is probably faulty.

Keep in mind just because something doesn't work for you, doesn't mean there's a bigger issue. You should be able to play movies directly off of Blu-Ray or DVD while offline. As someone mentioned you do have to have it set as your home Xbox and may need to
reinstall the Blu-ray app. A hard reset on the console may also resolve potential other issues causing it not to work.

As far as AC Odyssey, every official release date I've seen has been October 5th.

My Avatar blu-ray doesn't work on the xb1, it plays on my Samsung with no issues. I haven't had any issues with my other Blu-ray's. I'll try re-installing it tonight.

Offline installation is the best and fastest way to get the game installed. If it does the same installation issue even after offline it might be the disc.

Question:

Would it happen that you have just recently got the disc?

Does the issue happen with all game disc you tried to install/play?

If it happens to all game disc placed even movie blu-ray/disc, then it might be the console lens. However if it happens to be specific to a game disc then it might be the disc itself. Having a new disc doesn't mean there are no chances it would be faulty,
that's where the replacement role comes in.

Alternate option: Clearing persistent storage

Settings>Disc and blu-ray>Blu-ray>Clear.

If it still doesn't work, please contact support for more options or to contact your retailer/seller for disc replacement. That is if the disc is still eligible for replacement.
