    Blu ray black screen

Since taking the March update it appears one of my blu-rays does not work (which was working fine before the update). It loads up fine and I can hear it running but it is just a black screen, if I push the home button I can see that is playing fine on the
tile. I have tried various options such uninstalling the app, resetting the console and re installing the app as well as disabling some bluray options that would not work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jason

    :)

Is the separate bluray app installed???

For some reason this is not by default.

    Blue ray black screen

So I'm trying to play my blue ray on my Xbox one but I can only hear audio and not see the video. I can only see a black screen. How can I resolve this?

    Blu ray black screen

I'm in the same boat Jason! I'm glad I'm not the only person with this problem!

I have the black screen while trying to watch Dredd, but I can hear all the audio fine. When watching Total Recall I get the video, but only the background noises (no dialog). This also seems to be since the update!

From quite a bit of googling the symptoms over the weekend, I've started to think they've flipped some switch on how strict the HDCP settings are! But of course thats just me guessing!

I hope they get this fixed! I can't watch some of my favorite BluRays! (DVDs work fine!)

There are two "types" of Blu-ray player black screen issues (different from the system wide black screen issues) that we know about. JasonLFC, you werent' specific about which Blu-ray options you tried disabling, so first I would ask you turn off 24Hz. If
that doesn't help, please reply with the movie you were playing, including UPC code if possible. XTR, your issue could also be either one, so please try the same.

    1. If you have 24Hz enabled and your TV doesn't support 24Hz. There is currently no protection from enabling 24Hz like there is when you try to force a display output resolution your TV doesn't support, where we display the "can you see this" dialog box, and
if you don't press OK within 15 seconds revert to the old setting. So if you enable 24Hz but your TV doesn't support it, you will just get a black screen when launching the Blu-ray player. Then when you go back to Home you switch "bonk" back to 60Hz and then
can see it. This was actually the previous behavior, and with the new Blu-ray player update this week we are trying to reduce the number of bonks, and you will stay at 24Hz even when returning to Home, and only switch back to 60Hz if you launch another app
which requests it. Unfortunately this means you'll be stuck at the black screen until you reboot the machine. In the future we'll protect you from enabling 24Hz if your TV can't support it.
    2. Disc specific issues. We just fixed one for Avatar, but we've repro'd an issue with Jurassic Park, and heard about another couple disks. We need to know what discs you are having issues with to make progress. When you report the title, please also give
the UPC code from the back of the box so we know exactly which version of the movie you're playing.

DVD won't play on Xbox One

No error code, the screen just stays black. Every other dvd or blu-ray that I have works just fine.

    Xbox One and VGA

using VGA on Xbox one should be a criminal offense, why not watch a blu-ray on a 13 inch black and white screen
