Blu-ray Application not playing any dvds after Update (Xbox One)

    Hi Everyone

I hope someone out there will be able to assist with this particular problem.

I 'm not sure which particular update (April system or Blu-ray app update) is to blame for this issue but the application doesn't seem to be playing ANY of my dvds. Earlier today I was going through my dvd collection (all legit copies FWIW) and finally
settled on a movie to watch. Upon inserting the disc I got the "The Blu-ray application needs an update" message and I proceeded to update the application as requested but only to be confronted with the following message right after:

"Disc Stopped. Make sure your TV's HDMI input supports HDCP rights management. If not, try plugging your Xbox into a different TV input. (0x91d7000a)"

I've been googling all day trying to find a solution and here's a couple of the "fixes" I've tried thus far:

    1. Power Cycled the console (Energy-saving mode NOT Instant-on)

    2. Uninstalled and re-installed the application multiple times with\without doing a power cycle

    3. Tried all the other HDMI ports on my LCD TV and all have had the same end result (HDCP rights management error)

    4. Swapped out the standard Xbox HDMI cable with two other HDMI cables and still no luck

    5. Did a factory reset on my Samsung LA46C530F1RXXA LCD TV

    6. Tried hooking up my Samsung BX2331 LCD Desktop monitor which DID work on the Xbox prior to the updates but now refuses to display anything when attached to the Xbox (still works 100% when connected via HDMI to my PC)

I'm seriously at a loss for words at the moment.. I've spent all day trying to fix the issue with no resolution in sight, the thing that troubles me the most is the fact that 1-2 months ago I had no issues playing any disc whatsoever and boggles the mind
that something so simple as an "unnecessary" update has effectively and severely diminished the functionality of my console.

I already have major issues with the lackluster DLNA support (only plays selective MKV files) not to mention that the "Play-to" feature is not exactly what I would call a worthwhile and alternate solution to a proper media center application (PLEX is a
paid for service so I have no interest in it) I did not purchase an Xbox with the intent of just playing games on it, I was bargaining on the All-in-One functionality of the console and finally throw out my old Mede8er
    device.

I will not be purchasing another LCD TV any time soon as the current one cost me $1000 with extended warranty included, yes I know it is an older model but as stated previously, the console was able to play ALL my dvd content till the recent updates surfaced..
which implies I will not accept that as a possible cause for the current conundrum facing me.

My apologies for the negative tone of this post but I am sure my frustrations have relevant weight to them and some of you will be able to concur on this front.

Any help regarding this issue would be greatly and sincerely appreciated.

    :)

I would check out the Xbox page for Blu-ray playback regarding regions. But yes, your Xbox One can certainly play DVD and Blu-ray movies.

So this has happened to me ever since I've had an Xbox One, and it's so annoying. It works for me when I do this:

When you load the Blu-Ray app and the disc (dvd or blu-ray) is already in there. You get the error. So while the error screen is still on the screen, unplug the HDMI cord and plug it back in. Now the DVD loads just fine. Don't know why but it must be some
weird handshake between the Xbox One, HDMI cord, and TV.

Let me know if this helps anyone.

    Hey there Africanworm!

Apologies for the delay! Just a heads up, we work oldest to newest so as soon as a thread is bumped or updated, we may not catch it right away.

Definitely try out what ceezkiddo suggested and let us know if that helps, but be sure that there are no recording devices plugged into the Xbox One or your TV, as that will sometimes cause this error. After reading all of the steps you have
tried so far, the next best option is to
    Factory Restore the Xbox One
console if that suggestion does not work.

If the issue continues to persist after restoring to factory defaults, your console may need to be repaired. To begin that process, please visit our Online Service Center.

Feel free to let us know how it goes! Blu-ray Application not playing any dvds after Update (Xbox One) :)

I've done a factory reset of the console within the last 24 hours and have to report that sadly this also did not solve my problem, the error still persists.

I did change the region to my local region (South Africa) on the top right and entered all the required fields, but to no avail.

    Any alternate suggestions perhaps?

    Hey Mister Beep

I have the same problem with all the various browsers, perhaps it is a region based issue. I bought the console unopened but via our local classifieds (bad decision) due to the lower asking price as the going rate for a store bought console is $590 locally.
This most likely translates into no warranty on the device as I cannot provide the purchase information.

I thank you for your help regardless, I think it would be best for me to sell the console at a much lower price due to its diminished functionality/value.

I will mark your previous answer as "Yes" in order to close the thread Blu-ray Application not playing any dvds after Update (Xbox One) :)

Xbox One imported from other region

Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console.

Some Blu-ray discs and DVDs are not region-encoded or are coded to all regions. Region-free Blu-ray discs and DVDs will play on any Xbox One console.
