Blu-Ray App Freezing at Blue Splash Screen

I downloaded the system update today and tried to watch a dvd. I was prompted to update the bluray app, which I did in order to watch the movie. But now the bluray app will go to the blue app slash screen and show a little thing that supposed to circle to
show something is loading. But it just sits there, the icon not circling, and then after 2-3 minutes will just kick back to the dashboard. This will happen every time I try to play a dvd tonight. It still plays disc games without issue so it's not a disc drive
problem. Seems like an app problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've already tried restarting, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app both to no avail.

Blu-ray app not working (DVDs play fine)

Bought Xbox One at Christmas, has been playing Blu-rays via the app just fine until the beginning of this month. Now we pop in a Blu-ray and it might whir a bit, maybe even access some of the initial splash screens ('loading', etc.) but then nothing, just
black. DVDs play fine. I have checked for updates, restarted uninstalled and reinstalled the Blu-ray app. Anyone else having this problem or found a solution?

3D blu-ray

Well technically you don't need to download an "app" for Blu-ray players, because it is PREINSTALLED. That's the only difference, except that the Blu-ray player has only one app.

Don't splash out, 3D support will arrive in 2014. Besides, most TVs can "upscale" from 2D to 3D.

G'day Sea, I see you've tried restarting the console already but have you tried a

power cycle? Give it a shot. I know it sounds similar, but following the directions provided in that link will do more than a simple system reboot. Let us know the results!

After some further testing of different discs, it seems like that my Netflix copy of wrath of the titans was the only one causing issues. So I'm not sure if rental versions of movies, where it's a stripped down version (only has the movie, and no special
features) had something to do with it.

But games, bluray sand other DVDs seemed to work fine.

So false alarm I guess. Thanks for the input though and being kind enough to respond.

I am having the same problem with my launch Xbox One too. The exact same thing - the Blu Ray app will not auto-start and if I manually select it nothing happens aside from the blue splash screen. For me, ejecting and re-inserting does not work. I have to
completely do a hard restart to temporarily fix the issue - which reappears a day or so later.

Try this: Uninstall Blue-Ray App.

Go to Settings>Disc and Blu-ray Settings

Make sure there is a check at 24 hz.

Scroll down to persistent storage, clear it.

Go back to the home screen.

Make sure no disc is in disc drive

Power cycle console for 10 seconds

Power drain, and unplug everything

Wait for the light on PSU to disappear

Reconnect cables in this order: HDMI (both, if necessary), Kinect, Ethernet (if necessary), Power cord to console and directly to wall, (if possible.)

Restart console

Download Blu-Ray player app

Go to home screen, and test:

And checking the settings, under blu ray and disc.
