XBOX ONE - "Media" capabilities and their contradictions

@dude... You do realize many of the new 4K TV's are also 3D?

    Bombed? Really?

Anyone thinking 3D is dead is simply fooling themselves. Every other movie being made is being presented in 3D.

    Thor:
    The Dark World 3D & IMAX 3D

    Man of Steel (Blu-ray 3D

    The Wolverine - Blu-ray 3D

    Pacific Rim (Blu-ray 3D

    Iron Man 3 (Three-Disc Blu-ray 3D

    Star Trek Into Darkness ect...

Even filtering Amazon to show 3D Blu-rays from 2011-2013 alone has over 40 results pages...

Who here still has a HD-DVD player?

I forgot to add... Fluorescent Multilayer Disc, will be the new standard soon... A Fluorescent Multilayer Disc, is clear & can have up to 100 physical layers [Using 3D optical scanning & not 3D encoding] & holds up to 1 TeraByte of data...

Also, having better signal-to-noise ratio, than DVD, HD-DVD & Blu-Ray.. 6 years, before Blu-Ray was even created too..

    Blu- Ray 3D & HDDVD

HD DVD is a dead format so you may as well just let that one go and chalk it up as a loss. The Blu Ray 3D is supposed to be coming, it is just that no one knows when, and MS has not put any credible information out there as far as a timeline for it being
    available.

  5. I've seen 3D and it looks awesome, but within 5 minutes you either a) get used to it, or b) get eye-strain from it. Either way, the novelty wears off rather quickly and IMO, just isn't worth it. Besides, why do you need "3D" when your own
are already seeing everything in 3D. Blu- Ray 3D & HDDVD ;)

Blu-ray discs can hold much more data than HD-DVD. Even as much as 400GB. I wouldn't want HD-DVD. My Xbox 1 plays DVD's and my HDTV/console does the upscaling. DVD's are is it only natively in 480p. Where as Blu-ray you get everything in HD. If they haven't
released an Update for Blu-ray 3D support, picture watching a movie of that on a 1080p 40' or bigger HDTV. It would feel just like being there.

HD-DVD died in 2008!! All manufacturing of players and discs ceased that year. Why would the Xbox One support a format that no longer exists???

I want Blu-Ray 3D support as well on the Xbox One.

I don't have any other 3D Blu Ray player in my home. I specifically bought Gravity 3D edition so I could watch it on my Xbox One... Microsoft - I'm still waiting!!!!

I don't get why we are waiting as well... surely enabling 3D within the Blu-Ray application would be a quick job???

I actually have the Xbox HD-DVD player and a decent library of movies. Is the HD-DVD player not compatible with the Xbox One? Its not really that big of a deal if it isn't it just would have been nice.

It sucks you can't watch 3D Blu-rays, esepcially since I and many people have 3D HDTVs just for that purpose... Other than that the missing feature the Blu-ray player in the Xbox One seems fine IMO.

"Why is it not possible to use the HDDVD player on the Xbox One, that would make a lot of guys happy!" I just don't think that's true, it's a dead format. If you want to watch a dead format on a player which was made for the Xbox 360, keep your Xbox 360.

  12. Putting HD-DVD in the Xbox One would be like buying a brand new high-end gaming PC and installing a floppy disc drive. Yeah, it may be nice to say it does everything, but you really don't need it and nobody would miss it that much.

In the least rude way possible... If you're still clinging on to HD-DVD as a viable format over Blu-Ray, you need to reevaluate the risks you take in early adoption and move on. it's not like it ever even had a glimmer of hope, it was discontinued before
half the world knew it existed.

I have 8 HD-DVD movies and about 25 Blu-Ray. So yeah, I'm not "clinging" to anything. I was just asking if the Xbox One had drivers to support the Xbox HD-DVD player (apparently it does not). As I stated before, it would be cool if it did but isn't that
    big of deal.

  14. I'm still waiting for 3d-Blu Ray playback too. I have to keep my PS3 set up just for this very reason. Personally I don't see any reason why we should be waiting for this, it should have been here from day one. They billed this machine as an all in one entertainment
system, when quite simply that isn't the case. It's a 'next gen' console with less capabilities than it's predecessor. Poor showing!
