Blocking Mechanic?

Is there a definitive, player triggered Block Mechanic, or is the shield added in as a percentage of your over-all defense stats? Just curious... can't seem to find a way to block...

Can you please explain blocking? Will someone know they've been blocked? I tried to create some new games and 2 of 3 where people I have played before and they were questionable. Can I stop the game before I play them? I am trying to find more players
close to my time zone. I suggest an option where we could ask for that.

Blocking

From what I've heard, no, there is no notification to someone when they're blocked. Maybe the guy just assumed because you weren't replying to something specific, something he felt quite sure you would reply to if you could see it?

At best there is a dodge. I believe that the crusader can block, as there is a challenge that unlock after you block 100,000 damage in 10 secs. However, I haven't tried that character yet, so I'm not sure.

Blocking happens automatically. Each shield has a certain block %, and your overall block chance can be increased in various ways (skills, paragon points, and I think from non-shield items as well.

⬆ Correction, block % cannot be increased by paragon points, just skills/items.

Hello "GHC Relentless"

Here is how I think the blocking mechanic works...

(1) Let's say you have a "25% Chance to Block"

(2) Everytime an enemy attacks you, the game quite literally rolls the dice to see if you were successfully able to roll the 1 out of 4 required to block.

(3) If you roll that 1 out of 4, you block the attack and the damage reduction takes place (unless the damage inflicted got dropped to zero, in which it would say something like "absorbed" or stuff like that).

(4) If you fail to roll the 1 out of 4, the damage bypasses your shield and that is where the calculations for your Armor's and Resist All Damage comes into play

Thanks for info, I'm hoping its an update for half block positioning, we were trying out different sticky piston door lock mechanisms, and one involves half blocks( translucent) to be put into the top half of block position. Currently you can't do this.
