Blocked People Becoming Unblocked?

A couple weeks ago, I accepted a party invite from a friend. Another person in the party started to spout neo-**** propaganda about Jewish people - real racist stuff. I muted him, reported him, and blocked him.

Yesterday, I was invited to a party and found that same person already in the party. They were muted on my end (I couldn't hear them) but they could hear me. They started sending me messages non-stop. I checked their profile and found that the mute selection
was not selected (even though I couldn't hear him), and this person was not blocked (since they could send me messages).

Is there some reason why a block would undo itself? It seems like something that most people would not want, because we generally block people for a reason, and I don't want to be subjected to message spam from someone I previously blocked.

In the highly unlikely event of a single player game on disc becoming unplayable (not counting 2 current racing games) due to servers than at least hacking becomes an option. If your digital game gets blocked or unavailable to re download than you are stuffed.

As long as people you blocked/blocked you didn't appear on your history, this wouldn't be such a bad idea.

 

If I remember right there are now a couple of options when it comes to blocking people, you can block chat from them but also messages, but like I say I haven't used it for years and I could be remembering it wrong.

 

I am interested in how these questions get answered by the community.

*Personally OP, I am not shocked that such things are happening, seems everytime National, or World economies wax worse, race hating somehow becomes socially acceptable AGAIN. Or am I reading history wrong?

Simple really. I block, for the sake of argument, you. I don't get messages, invites, etc., and wouldn't hear you in a random lobby that we were thrown in together. Now let's say, seeing he's in this thread, Shaggy2000 invites me into a party that you happen
to be already in; I accept, and can hear everyone in the party but you. Now let us say, I see you in the party and send you a message; M.S. cancels the block and I am now notified of the message/invites you send.

Great, now if you could answer the OP's question of how a race hater was reported and,... Wait for it.

Immediate? That would be crazy! Lol. They have to investigate, otherwise people would just make false accusations. It would seem the O.P.s "racist" is part of a larger group he plays with, seeing he was already in a party with his other friends. Maybe his
other friends are racist too, and just more reserved? Maybe the guy making the "Neo-(Insert apparently banned word here.)" only spews his hate in private parties with like minded people (except the O.P. of course.), and has only one report on him? I don't
think M.S. would even investigate in a case like that. I'm sure the guy will feel the ban hammer eventually...maybe just minutes after renewing his Gold and buying thousands of dollars worth of digital games. Then we can all kick back and read about how M.S.
unjustly banned his console, his account and gamer-tag, stolen all his games, and is now going to buy a PS4.

Great answer... Wait until the offender purchases thousands of dollars of games etc, and then ban em stripping away their purchases. Typical pro MS answer.

Yet a simple communications ban would more than suffice.

 

By the time someones console, gamer-tag, or account, gets banned; there has already been multiple actions taken against them. You want a instant communications ban by one report..."Not at the very least get an immediate 2 week communications ban?". Pro
M.S.? I assure you the same thing happens on PSN, though M.S. does seem to do a better job of getting rid of the "deplorable s".

I spend most of my time on Live or PSN in party chat with "real life" friends so, will admit, encounters with trolls/creeps/racists/homophobes/etc. isn't much of a problem; very rarely have to mute anyone. I would recommend the O.P. do the same.
