Block feature does not work

It keeps putting me in games with blocked players and they still get put in my games. Please fix this!

'block' function does not work!

Block does not work. i will go into gamertag of someone sending abusive message and toggle block- and will continue to get messages. These messages are from strangers not friends, it happens consistently, from anyone, and the block toggle in their game profile
continues to say "unblock" as though they are blocked. It happened on xbox 360 and continues to do so on xbox one.

What is the point of "block" if it does absolutely nothing!? I called the support center and they had no clue what to do. We all get stupid messages from some whiner who's mad they got killed- I would love to block these raging lunatics rather than get a
string of hate mail, please help!

Are you sure the abusive messages come from the same blocked account?

Also keep in mind, that if you send someone a message while they are blocked, this automatically removes the block.

So for example, if you do this:

You recieve an abusive message from the Gamertag "BlockMe01"

You go to the Profile of "BlockMe01" and block that account.

You go to messaging and send "BlockMe01" the message: "I blocked you."

This will unblock "BlockMe01" and you continue to get messages from that Gamertag.

If however the person uses multiple accounts like for example "BlockMe01", "BlockMeTwo", "BlockMeAswell" and "BlockMeSeeIfICare", and you block "BlockMe01", the other accounts can still harass you.

In that case, go to your Online and Privacy settings at
https://account.xbox.com/Settings and temporarily set your messaging settings to "Friends Only".

That way, only people that are on your friend list can message you. Everyone else is blocked.

Sorry to hear about the block issue. Just to make sure that we have not missed any troubleshooting steps, I recommend trying a few to see if we can get this issue sorted.

Please give the following steps a shot:

• Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
• Wait 5 minutes and then power on your console.
• Verify that you are logged in with the profile that you have blocked players with.
  
• From the Home screen, navigate to the Friends app.
• Open the friends app and press the Menu button on your controller.
• Select People I've blocked.
• Check to see if the players that you had blocked before are on the list.
• If the players are not on the list, select recent players and choose block for the players you would like to block.
  
• If the players are in the People I've blocked list, try to a few games to see if you are getting paired with blocked players.
  

Give the suggested steps a shot and let us know if you were able to successfully block other players.

 

No good. Still getting put in games and they're being put in my games.

What game is it? From what I know, the block feature makes it LESS LIKELY that you will be matched with somebody you block. If you are playing a game that does not have a big following, it may be that the game has to match you that way because the population
of players is not big enough to fill games.

 

Call of Dity Ghosts. The two most popular game modes Domination and Tean Death Match.

Any solution? Anybody?

 

They might be following you using the recent players list. Or, one of your friends might have them on their friends list and they find you that way. You could set your profile to appear offline and see if that helps.

 

Didn't work. Still being put in games and lobbies with blocked players.

 

"No More Cheats or Jerks"

Anyone have contact information for Micheal Dunn, Program Manager? It seems he is in charge of this feature and could find out why it's not working.

 

No contact information? No escalation? No fix? Nothing?

Just to clarify blocking a player will block communications with the blocked player and like OUTSIDER said above, it will make it less likely that you will be matched with the player you block. If you are being matched with players that are violating the Code
of Conduct I would recommend reporting the offending player. The Xbox One uses a reputation system that takes accumulative feedback from other players which will effect your reputation. If a player receives negative feedback, their reputation score will lower,
this will effect who they are matched with, the reputation of their Xbox Live party, and their ability to communicate with others on the Xbox Live service.

 

If you review the public statement by Michael Dunn program manager you will see that he never said "less likely". I appreciate your appearent speculation about this malfunction, but I was hoping for a clear answer to fix it. Please put me in touch with someone
that has an answer to this problem.

As to the reputation system you refer to, not I or anyone I've communicated with has ever seen any player with anything less than the reputation everyone starts out with. In other words, no one has ever seen that this system is actually working.

I continue to seek an answer to this problem.

After hearing guesses and speculation from the support team, I guess the real question is

does xbox live have a block feature?
