blank screen

I've had my xbox one for 2 months now and just recently had problems start happening. when booting forza 5 I get no sound then when it get to microsoft studio logo it goes blank. I have been unplugging it for 10 seconds and problem is fixed but it's happened
a total of 3 to 4 times recently. this time i tried a digital game when forza didn't work and the digital game worked. after that tried forza again still same blank screen no sound so tried another disc game tomb raider also blank. unplugging system works
everytime but has me worried something is wrong with my system since it keeps happening.

oh ok. my polaroid tv doesn't seem to recognise the hdmi input either. maybe contact panasonic.

its the hdmi cable that im having trouble with which doesnt have a switch. do you mean the switch thats on the older cable what comes with the xbox? thanks

 

Please try the following steps:

1. Go to settings / blu ray and erase the permanent storage.

2. Perform a system cache reset. Keep the powerbutton for about 15 seconds. Keep it holding even when the one turns off. Wait for the power supply to change the color to orange and then restart the console.

Check if that solves your problem or if it occurs again.

 

Along the lines of what Bob is saying, you do want to clear the Persistent storage by going to setting, disc and blue ray, and then persistent storage. Clear it 3 times.

Then perform a hard reset on the console. Turn off your console, unplug all the cords connected to your console, place your finger on the power button for 30 seconds, plug everything back in, then turn on your console.
