Blank screen on blu ray play back

When trying to play a blu ray the video is blank with audio playing ok. I can fix it by turning my soundbar on and off again (Samsung hw-k950) Xbox is input to soundbar and then soundbar to LG TV. I tried the exact same setup with my ps4 and it works fine,
so its not cables or something totally broken. Seems like it's probably hdcp handshake issue, netflix, amazon etc work fine. I've seen a post about the same issue on another forum. Any ideas?

I've tried the usual resetting console, uninstalling app. Messing with video settings

Problem with Blu-Ray playback

Hello, as well as my control pads keep disconnecting at random times, my xbox one also has a problem with Blu-Ray playback.

when I play a Blu-Ray the screen flicks from a blank black screen to the films image then back to black screen then back to the film etc etc.

is this a common problem and can I get it fixed?

'Blu-ray player' issues

I tried playing blu ray of pirate fairy for my grandkids and it will not play either. Just goes to a blank screen.

 

Are you using an LG OLED TV?

If so set your Xbox Colour Depth output to 24 bits per pixel [8 bit colour] instead of 30 / 36 and see if that helps, seems to fix my issue with 3D Blu Rays.

 

Hi Nick, it is most definitely a handshaking issue between the Xbox One S and the K950. I've posted the following on the Samsung community as have many others and I've also sent a similar e-mail to Samsung to see if they have a firmware update in the offing:

the Xbox One S, re-installed the BluRay player app. It then played Deadpool but only in 1080p, however I did have picture and Atmos. I then took Deadpool out, inserted Fantastic Beasts and this played in HDR and Atmos, took this out and put Deadpool back in
and lo and behold this now played in HDR and with Atmos. This thing is driving me absolutely mad!!! I've managed to get 4 discs to play with HDR and ATMOS but only by sheer luck of randomly power cycling the K950, unistalling and re-installing the BluRay player
App, power cycling the Xbox One S, and swapping discs one after the other."
