blank screen and unable to play games

Use the HDMi cable that came with the Xbox. Check the settings on the TV. If it is an internet capable (smart) tv then make sure its got its updates as well. When this happens it tends to be some combination of the xbox display settings and the tv display
settings.

Make sure the resolution on both match.Try different bit rates. It would take some time, but set things to the lowest settings, then try ONE AT A TIME and up them to your desired setting and see which one is tripping up the setup.

Heya, if you haven't already check out the guide to having a
blank screen while the Xbox is powered on. If you are unable to get the image back up on the TV the console may need repair which will be the final step in the linked guide.

I have the same problem and also the monitor screen goes blank. I tried on different games. When you move the cursor up or down, the screen goes blank, then the image appears again, and either the taskbar at the bottom of the screen or the top panel of
the window appears. The only solution is to play in windowed mode.

Willie, for all we know, it could be certain Xbox consoles that could be effected. Check Wiki, and you'll find they aren't all the same (I'm sure you know this, but for anyone who doesn't....). Mine is one of the newest Slims. Sadly, for those who're having
troubles (I'm in the same boat..-_-'' ), we'll just have to wait for the fix. Hopefully (cross fingers) it'll only be a week tops.

Added: Don't delete your games guys! It's not likely to even BE the games that are at fault here! I've successfully downloaded the newest free games while this is going on. It's very very likely to be some sort of problem with a new patch or some such.
