"Bladestorm: Nightmare" - And Now For Something Completely Different

Don't pay XBox Online Store price for this game but if you can find the disc version for cheap enough you've got something really different to look forwards to.

Previous Dynasty Warrior games were set in China and Japan and let you control a single hero beating up thousands of enemies.

"Bladestorm: Nightmare" is set in Europe, during the 100 Years War.

Instead of controlling a single hero, your hero controls a squad of a specific weapon type and your squad participates in the battles of the 100 years war.

Compared to most Current Gen titles this game looks a little rough around the edges, but it more than makes up for this in terms of Battlefield Size, Variety of Units and unique gameplay.

Add to that the surreal experience of witnessing the 100 Years War from a Japanese perspective and you get an experience that can both amuse and fascinate in equal measure.

"The 100 Years War" campaign is an updated version of the original "Bladestorm: The 100 Years War" but the "Nightmare" campaign adds a twist of monsters invading the world leaving you with monsters and dragons to slay.

The game won't be for everyone but then if we all liked the same things the world would be a boring place.

Like I said on the surface it might look a little rough around the edges compared to other modern games and at first you might not really be sure what's going on... but once you get to grips with the controls there's a pretty unique experience to be had
    here.

For those who prefer a little gameplay depth rather than doing the same old thing all over again with the shiniest new graphics.

    :)

  3. And now for something completely different

I have seen levers near the big bows so look around. There were bows in Irkngthand with nearby lever and also in the other one nearby, Raldbthar.

    My son picked this up.

I didn't play it myself but watched him play, not my type of game but he usually loves these types of games but he has mentioned the game has got some terrible bugs especially once your about a few hours in that can make it frustrating.

I know a few reviews ( Pure Xbox being one, see link below ) have mentioned the bugs as well so just warning to anyone. hopefully it will be patched soon!

    Pure Xbox ...

When all is said and done, the Xbox 360 version of Bladestorm deserved a full sequel, or at least a proper remaster. Bladestorm: Nightmare is neither of those things. It's a half-hearted attempt at bringing the series into the current generation, and
is only barely recommended for the absolute die-hard fans of the original. This is a real shame and even if you can get past the bare-bones approach to remastering that Omega Force have taken,
you probably won't get past all the
    bugs.

Shame you had such a bad experience NOT playing this game.

That Pure XBox Review doesn't inspire much confidence. That these guys managed to lose their bearings in a game that comes with a mini-map that can be enlarged to a full quarter of the screen size suggests they did not understand how to use it.

This is further backed up by the complaints of not being sure how to play the game despite the inclusion of a digital manual in the Options screen.

Like I said before, for those who prefer doing something different instead of doing the same old thing all over again with the shiniest new graphics.

A few hours into the game myself with no bug issues at all with the disc version of the game.

Sorry to hear your son had a different experience but pasting a link to the lowest review you could find on Metacritic just makes you look like a bit of a jerk.

    Az,

lol, you sure to take it to heart when someone mentions something negative about a game you have!

Also, I never said I myself had a bad experience, I haven't played it, I only know what my son has told me.

As for posting the a link to the lowest score I could find, sorry if this hurt your feelings but it was just one example of what a few reviews have said, the game has been quite buggy for some.

As for me looking a bit of a jerk, that's two laughs I've had on this forum this morning so thanks for that at least. I could lower myself to your level and maybe throw a few names back but those days I left behind me long ago but even in the school playgrounds
it was good for a laugh.

    Enjoy the game.

Not going to win an award for "Best Graphics of 2015" but still an experience that manages to be entertaining for it's uniqueness in ideas and execution.

More stable than "The Master Chief Collection" and less buggy than "Assassin's Creed: Unity" if you can pick it up for cheap enough then it's nice to have something that doesn't play like everything else.

While some people turn to the internet to instruct them on what to think and how to feel about games this title hearkens back to why you play games in the first place.

It might be a little clumsy. It might be a little rough around the edges. But it's fun.

Feel free to post more game site ratings of games you think are super awesome. Maybe Destiny?...
"Bladestorm: Nightmare" - And Now For Something Completely Different :p Maybe people who turn to the internet to instruct them what to think actually think it's a GOTY. lol

    * On a side note... I've never understood why some people on these forums go mental when someone else doesn't love a game that they do. They don't seem to understand that someone elses
OPINION may not match theirs. (this is where I say DUH)

So why get so upset that I enjoy "Destiny" and "Bladestorm: Nightmare"?

Build a bridge and get over it.

No need to let a gaming discussion get in the way of you making threads about yourself.

I've been reading a few bits of info on this game on VG and Twitter.

Some have said the bugs/glitches seemed worse ( unless it's just a coincidence ) when they started the game before it was fully installed.

A few have said they deleted then re-installed it and let it 100% install before playing and it seems a lot better.

I told my son who again had issues with it last night and he said when he's home he will delete/re-install later and let me know how he gets on.

If I remember right, another game where a few reported more issues than usual because of playing before it fully installed was Assassins Creed Unity, could be wrong though.

    Wrong question. Why get upset
others don't enjoy them if you do is the right one. I don't care what you like or dislike.
You're the one who can't handle it when someone else says something bad about a game you like.
Duh. (see your threads for examples)

I used Destiny as an example because it just happened to be the last thread I remembered
you having arguments with others because they didn't agree with
you how great it was. lol Take your own advice for once and "get over it". lol

I've heard of "Unity" and some others' being a bit "tempermental" if you don't let it do a full install even though it's saying "Ready To Start".

Always let my games do a full install and haven't had any issues to date.

Hope the game works alright for him after trying that as a fix.

Again it's no GOTY but unless you actually played the original last gen... there's nothing quite like it this gen either and it can be good quirky fun.
