Blacks look grey, and grey has black bars on Xbox One X

Struggling with this problem for at least a few months, but tough to remember when as I stopped playing for my xbox one x for awhile.

Best example for my problem is in destiny two. In both darker scenes and in loading screens what I believe should be black or darker is showing up as grey instead with black bands going vertically down. I also see this is in the settings menu where I see
black bands going vertically down the settings screen as well.

I will list what I have done below, as I am stumped.

- As a baseline I have a LG OLED65B7A and a Yamaha RX-V681BL which acts as my pass through to the TV, with my xbox one x, PS4 and Switch all going into a single HDMI on the LG TV. I have also done many hard power off and on the latest version of the xbox
one x software.

- Would also add that i have Destiny 2 on my PS4 Pro, going through the same system and have zero problems with the color and do not see that grey on the PS4 Pro.

- I have tried plugging my xbox one x into different inputs on my receiver, including the same as PS4 PRO. I have also tried two different HDMI cords, and plugging my HDMI from the xbox directly to the TV and not to the receiver.

- I have adjusted all my color settings up and down, disabled deep color, and going through all the spectrums I can think of at this time

- I have disabled HDR on the xbox and restarted and come back, and gone through color depth and tried spectrum as well.

- Done all the xbox calibration and looks just fine, any TV color test also does not show any problems or challenges.

Xbox One X dashboard is a light grey washed out colour when using dark theme

The Xbox One X dashboard theme is not working properly when using dark theme, it appears as a light grey colour throughout the dashboard and looks a bit washed out. It does not like if it is working properly as when I go to theme settings and toggle between
light theme and dark theme, the dark theme briefly appears as a black dark theme and then goes light grey and stays like that.

Is there any fix for the dark theme not showing up as black?

Is this related to the bug with elevated black levels, blacks showing as grey on the UHD player when watching UHDs?

using TV with the DirecTV Genie not displaying properly

I hooked up the Genie to the HDMI pass through and don't see any settings for this, nor can I bring up the direcTV genie menu settings to change anything when it's connected to the xbox one.

Basically, the widescreen image is forced into a 4:3 window or so then viewed on my widescreen like a 4:3. It is not filling the screen. So I have grey bars in a 4:3 window and black bars on the side on TV.

Display Settings troubleshooter on our website we think would help. Check it out and let us know if we can further assist with this or any other issue or inquiry!!

 

I have already done all of that, does not help.

Hey Blood, thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Now if the steps above have been done and no change has occurred we would suggest trying a Direct to TV connection next since the Yamaha RX-V681BL is being used as a passthrough we would try to eliminate as many variables as possible. Keep us posted
on any changes!

 

I have already tried that as part of the steps I listed in my original post. I tried two different cords, and different hdmi slots on the TV.

Since the passthrough has been discarded the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a

Soft Factory Reset (while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!
