    Black video when recording gameplay on xbox


    Half of the time when I am recording footage for a game ( call of duty : modern warfare), the recording turns out to be a black screen when I view the mp4 file on the Series X console but other games don't have this issue.

    no sorry the xbox doesnt record gameplay by its self, only certain games like black ops 2, black ops, mw3 and halo record gameplay. Also dirt 3 allows you to upload a clip of your racing to youtube.

    if you want to record gameplay from other games you have to get a video capture card which attaches to the console and computer or laptop.

    More then likely block due to HDCP requirement, to prevent recording of TV. However I'm having issues just recording gameplay through a Blackmagic Intensity. The video signal goes black just like a HDCP block.

    Are you wanting to record shows from the TV, or gameplay?

    If it's gameplay, you would need an external video capture device and software to record the gameplay.

    If it's TV programs, no. Live TV cannot be recorded from an Xbox One.
