    Black screened after system update


    Just turned the Xbox on to see it was 83% done with a system update it automatically installed. When it was over, I’m now getting the black screen I’ve been reading about lately. Xbox menu doesn’t work, but I can see people logging in and can hold the Xbox button on the controller and click restart. Hard reset isn’t working. Is my only option a factory reset with a USB? I don’t want to lose my data.

    This seems strictly to be a software issue and it’s very disappointing a company so large could have such a nasty software issue on a console that’s been around so long.

    Just as a heads up, the black screen is normal.

    It should be green splash, black screen then dashboard.

    After a system update, the black screen can remain for a few minutes before you see anything.

    Thanks team...I tried a few of the suggestions and it was the factory reset (while keeping games and apps) that did the trick. Apparently there's an outage at the moment though that prevents me from playing but I guess that'll sort out soon. Thank you
