    Black screen?


    Ever since the last update which was from 12/05 my xbox screen is black for 5 minutes before showing the home screen whenever I turn on the xbox, anyone else with this issue?

    Black screen?

    Hi there. I'm not sure if there was a public update then, and it sounds like you may be part of the preview program. If you are, before you do anything, make sure you report this via the Preview app, or in the forumsBlack screen? :preview Forums

    First, if you can, move all games and apps to an external hard drive, since there is a chance you may have to factory reset. Just in case, go to Settings, System, Console info & updates, and write down your OS version.

    Next, try holding the Xbox logo on the front of your console for about 10 seconds until it turns off. Unplug the power cord from the back for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and boot it up. Make sure you're plugged into the wall and not a power strip.

    If that doesn't help anything, or you get stuck on a green screen after that, you will have to use the Offline System Update Diagnostic tool to reapply the last update, or perform a Reset to Defaults (Factory reset). You can find all instructions and files

    Video proof...or it didn't happen.

    People who claim to see black screens can't tell the difference between a real black screen and a lag black screen.

    Just because you get a black screen, doesn't man that better players get black screens.

    Maybe you get a black screen because you can't play as well as you think you can.

    I've olny ever seen a black screen once and that was ages ago when the game was newly released.

    343/Microsoft will detect black screens and ban them.

    Black screens are only seen from your xbox's point of view.

    Latest update seems to have renedered my console useless. Any suggestions.

    This exact problem happened to me. I just updated and boom just black screen instead of home screen. I click report a problem and it goes to open the app then black screen. I put in a disk and loads up the game screen and then black screen.

    Green screen to black screen

    Just as a heads up, the black screen is normal.

    It should be green splash, black screen then dashboard.

    After a system update, the black screen can remain for a few minutes before you see anything.
