    that is the offline software update tool i was referring to, actually called "Xbox One Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool".

    it's there for people that don't have a internet connection, they can download it to a thumbdrive and plug it into the X1 to perform the system updates, but i've seen people use that tool to basically "re-apply" the latest update and that seemed to have
    worked... for them, i'd still suggest sending it if it is under warranty.

    I bought it online and the company doesn't seem to be the best at customer relations!

    I read about the offline software update tool but I don't feel comfortable doing that, I'd probably just mess it up!

    Mine just came back after BSOD but the games it came with are now gone (it was bought as a package) and now it appears Microsoft want me to pay for them again?

    Support asked me to try the offline update or 'restore factory defaults', unfortunately, my internet is VERY slow, I had to restore my console a few months ago after I had the 'teredo IP address' error. It took weeks to reinstall my games and dlc!

    You can re download the games for free as long as it is with the profile you used the codes on. Then just set is as your home Xbox so all profiles can play them.

    Black screen

    At best I get 1.9mbps, I have three digital games so it will take a while!

    I don't own a flash drive so I cannot try the system restore yet, but I'll let you know if it works.

    I found an old memory card reader and sd card, used that and it worked! I have to download all my stuff but I'm so happy! Black screen :)

    Video proof...or it didn't happen.

    People who claim to see black screens can't tell the difference between a real black screen and a lag black screen.

    Just because you get a black screen, doesn't man that better players get black screens.

    Maybe you get a black screen because you can't play as well as you think you can.

    I've olny ever seen a black screen once and that was ages ago when the game was newly released.

    343/Microsoft will detect black screens and ban them.

    Black screens are only seen from your xbox's point of view.

    Latest update seems to have renedered my console useless. Any suggestions.

    This exact problem happened to me. I just updated and boom just black screen instead of home screen. I click report a problem and it goes to open the app then black screen. I put in a disk and loads up the game screen and then black screen.

    Green screen to black screen

    Just as a heads up, the black screen is normal.

    It should be green splash, black screen then dashboard.

    After a system update, the black screen can remain for a few minutes before you see anything.
