Black screen when typing a message

Hi all

I have a small problem.

Whenever I am typing a message to a friend etc the screen goes black - the 'keyboard' on screen disappears and only the cursor is showing. The 'keyboard' reappears after a few seconds and the process repeats again and again etc This happens every 10 seconds
or so when typing a message. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a solution for this?

Typing messages

Since the last update to the app i can no longer type messages using my phone in game.

 

Xbox app freezing when being left open (unused) for a certain length of time

The latest version of the app still has this problem, but it also has another annoying problem. When you're typing a message to a friend, the cursor freezes up as you're typing, then after a few seconds it'll unfreeze and everything you typed during that
time suddenly pops into view. This happens on and off as you're typing the message.

 

Are you using instant on mode?

Try doing a full shutdown.

Press and hold power button for about 10 seconds until console shuts down.

Once light on power brick turns orange you should disconnect the power.

After a couple of minutes plug back in, switch on and try messaging again

 

Thanks for the reply. I always turn off the Xbox one when not using it - I disconnect it from the power supply basically.

You do fully shut it down first before uplugging?

Unplugging while light on power brick is still white can possible cause HDD corruption as being switched off in instant on mode isn't really off.
