Black Screen When pressing Xbox Button

I am experiencing the same problem. We need a solution beyond shutting down and rebooting. I'm sure doing that all the isn't good for the console. I love xbox, I really do. However I have had many, many problems with them since I first bought my 360. I hope
I don't have these issues with xbox one. But this black screen business is getting old. Come on Microsoft give us an update or answer to this problem.

 

Just happened to me too.....What the hell.....I know the fix, but i was in the middle of a game

 

This happens to me every single day ... I kid you not. Yes, I know the "easy" fix for it, and I have to do it each day to get my Xbox to function normally again. I've tried Tweeting Xbox Support numerous times for help, and they haven't helped me out too
much (go figure). Is anyone else having this problem?

 

Few likes would get more attention to the problem, and go a long way.

 

I have this whenever I pause a game of fifa (mid match) and say "xbox go home" the screen goes black and does not reappear until I turn off and on again. I can hear that the xbox is still working and I can still command it to go to netflix etc but can't
see it!

I suspect that this will be ignored until the next patch on March 11th

This does need fixing ASAP and not just the temporary "lets see if holding the power button down for 10 seconds works" answer we always get from support

 

Same here when pressing home button while in the lego marvel game - seems to happen more often if it is during a cut scene rather than normal game play. Also, unplugging and restarting seems to get it working again

I had the same issue. And after sending it into repair and having it sent back in same condition that I sent it in I still 35 days later have no working xone. It has been escalated to tier 3 twice and still no word from Xbox. Customer service however nice
they are useless. I wish I could return this $500 paperweight and get a ps4

 

I've run into this issue probably 5-6 times since the update and just decided to google it after it happened again today. I'd already figured out on my own that a hard power off/power on fixed the problem. It's frustrating, yes, but it's also a relief to
find out that 1) it's not just MY console and 2) Microsoft is aware of the issue. I'm sure it will be addressed soon.

 

Same issue ever since the February patch. I try to exit a game using the home button and black screen shows up. I'm kind of fed up. Broken controller now this. I figure if they patch caused it, they should be able to fix it with another patch but
I'm really tired of this.

 

I also had this issue yesterday. Disconnecting the power cable fixed the issue for me.

 

I have not had this issue since I got the March preview update, so hopefully it will be fixed for everyone when it is released.

Same issue here as well. Pressing home button while in the middle of COD makes the TV flash black 5-6 times and then just go solid black. Can hear game in the background and any movements I make with the controller. Powering down the console by holding
home, then up and left for "Turn Off Console" and starting back up does not resolve the issue. Have to pull the plug from the back. This console has been less than my "all in one" entertainment system so far... Anyone know when this will be fixed?

 

I haven't found an actual confirmation yet, but it looks like the March update that launched today has fixed this. I was getting the black screen about every other time I used the Xbox button to go to the home screen. I've been using my console for about
3 hours since today's update and the black screen issue has not happened once (and I've used the Xbox button frequently). I'll post an update if it rears its head again, but so far, so good.

Side note - the customizable volume up/down increments feature included in this update is great!! No longer have to keep saying "Xbox volume up/down" 4 or 5 times in a row to get it where you want. I changed mine from the default 3 up to 7 and now it's about
perfect. It took me a while to find it (had to post a question in the forums, actually), but it's under Settings -> TV and One Guide -> Troubleshooting, then under Audio (I think - not in front of my console currently). Kind of an odd place to stick it, IMO,
but worth finding it. Very cool feature.
