So we can make sure to get you the right steps and info, can you reply back with some additional information regarding the issue you're experiencing?

1. Are you seeing this with an Xbox One or Xbox 360 console?

2. When are you seeing that black screen, specifically? Is that right when you start the console or does it happen during use?

3. Is this console enrolled in the update preview through the
Xbox Insider Program?

4. What steps, if any, have you already tried to help resolve this issue? We want to make sure we don't retrace anything you've already tried.

Just as a heads up, the black screen is normal.

It should be green splash, black screen then dashboard.

After a system update, the black screen can remain for a few minutes before you see anything.

This exact problem happened to me. I just updated and boom just black screen instead of home screen. I click report a problem and it goes to open the app then black screen. I put in a disk and loads up the game screen and then black screen.
