Black screen on booting up. (HDMI-to-DVI, Display Discovery)

"Recently bought a HDMI to DVI cable, I loaded my 360 and everything worked fine I started looking at the display settings and changed Display Discovery to Disabled the 360 then began to restart, however the screen just
stayed black and I got no picture. After leaving it for a few minutes i decided to turn my 360 off and I put my original Xbox 360 Composite A/V cable back in and then booted the 360 back up, the 360 loaded and everything was normal. After that I put the HDMI
to DVI cable back in and I got the black screen again, I do not get any sort of error message.

I have tried holding Y + RT as the 360 loads several times but it has never worked, I have only got this problem since I set display discovery to disabled."



Me: I have the exact same problem right now. I know this quite old, 2 years back, but still what should i do cuz i've almost tried everything. Even turned on the Display Discovery many times now. Turned it off too. I did that Display Settings Reset process
too & it worked for a while. I played a few games & i was very much relieved. The next day same *** started happening again & still is. I'm running out of ideas now. Please help me or i might hurt my Xbox. Im using HDMI-to-DVI as video source & AV Cable for
audio. Mind you i've been using this setup for 1 1/2 year now but the only mistake i made was to connect my xbox360 to my HDTV & now im paying for it. Please i need help desperately.

XBox won't boot following update

Found after the June 2012 update that I'd display discovery mode was on and I had the Xbox uh he'd directly into my tv it came up with display mode not supported and you just get a blank screen. When plugged through my blu ray player hdmi it displays on
the screen. Found that display discovery think output is dvi I stad of hdmi. Disabled display discovery and it not selects HDMI though secure hdcp connection isn't working anymore

For sky tv or DVD playback

Still trying and it is not working and have tried this sequence alot so it must be wrong. For a start if I sign into Xbox live I have to go across 7 times compared to 6 if I do not sign in.

Any help here?

Try those but if the problems still persists, let us know so we can try and get to the cause of it.

Like i said before i've done 80% of every possible way there is including those step which you showed & they worked. My video settings were reset & i played games for like 2-3 hrs but i also use the same cable for my PC (Nvidia Garphics Card) so i have unplug
it & plug it into my PC Card's port which i've doing since forever. It never happened before but a couple of days i connected my xbox to our HDTV. That messes up my settings or whatever. Now i can't get it back to earlier way. Im desperate. Really need your
help on this one. Thanks.

 

If it's an Xbox E model or S model, press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds and the light will flash several times.

Give that a try and let me know if it helps.

I did that too. Many times but it only worked the first time. Also its XBOX 360 S.

 

Is your profile set to sign in automatically and can you remember if the display discovery was on or off

 

Yes my profile is set to sign in automatically & Display Discovery is off.

 

It's been quite a while since I've posted my issue. Is there no solution at all? I really need Ur help guys. I don't have the resources to buy another HDMI TFT now. Help people. I need help desperately.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been looking at the process to turn display discovery on without seeing it on a screen, so going in blind as such and have come up with this process:

1) Turn Xbox on

2) Press Up

3) Press Right 6 times

4) Press Down

5) Press A three times

6) Press Down 4 times

7) Press A

8) Press Up

9) Press A

This process should turn the discovery display to enabled.

I would say to use the D pad rather than the stick for directions and don't press the A button quickly so the system can register the button press.

Give that a try and let me know the outcome.

 

Step 9 should be press A twice, the system should restart and the display discovery will kick in and show on your screen.

I did try that process before but i'll do it again just to make sure & i hope to God this works. What about my Auto Sign-In, Should i change it?

 

Leave it as it is, I asked in case there were extra steps needed in the process to sign in first.
