    Black screen of death (no signal from HDMI)


    Powered on my Xbox One X, went to open Netflix, and after it was taking a while to load I noticed the screen went black and I got my Samsung TV's No Signal screen. I believe I'm in the beta ring (I've since tried to unenroll via the PC desktop app). I've taken the following steps to try fix this:


    • Hard reset/restart (hold power for 10 seconds)


    • Hard reset/restart and boot into safe mode (hold power 10 seconds; then hold power + eject until two beeps--this never seems to work and holding power + eject does not turn on Xbox One X)


    • Try different HDMI cords (tried 2 additional cords and they did not work, tried original cord with another device and that device worked on multiple TV inputs)


    • Tried using controller LB+RB+Y (tried various combos thereof: LB+RB then Y then release, added in RT+RB+LT+LB then Y, tried all of that and hit Y at same time, nothing)


    • Hard restart/reset (power button for 10 seconds) then unplugged power cord for ~20ish minutes


    • Used compressed air to clean out HDMI ports on Xbox One X

    At this point I'm really worried that I have to send my Xbox One X in for repairs and I'm getting RROD flashbacks from my Xbox 360. Should I hope that once my Xbox has the Insider program beta ring or whatever removed that I might get functionality back? I should note when I power on the Xbox it does turn the TV on, so there is something working with the HDMI ports. Additionally, while I see "no signal" on the TV, I know the Xbox is on and receiving controls as I can use the controller to power off the Xbox. So should I leave the Xbox on and hope it uninstalls the Beta preview insider program? Or should I initiate a repair ticket on my out-of-warranty Xbox One X?

    Hi,

    Do you see "No Signal" message on your TV screen? If its just black screen, this signals that your console needs update. But if you see "No Signal" it could be an issue with your HDMI cable or TV HDMI port or your console HDMI port. Better to test your console
    with different TV.

    ive changed hdmi cables and the cable is fine, I get the green xbox screen and then just a black screen at the end of it...no dashboard !!!!..i know its sending a signal because if I unplug hdmi cable the tv states no signal...

    Same black screen. Power display shows on, my Tv HDMI input shows receiving signal but black screen on xbox. Home button shows it’s there and option to turn console off or controller off but that is all I can do. Smh !

    You talk about going black but have flickering on Topic.

    There was an official Problem with HDR Flickering on that TVs and Xbox but that should be fixed a time ago
    The screen flickers when HDR or HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour is on in the TV, after a while of flickering it goes black, then the TV loses the signal from the Xbox. That's
    my problem.

    If I deactivate HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour, then there's no more flickering and no more black screen.

    Well it isn't fixed yet, I'm 100% sure I am on the latest firmware on both the LG C9 and the Xbox One X.
