Black Screen Loading DJ Hero 2 After Update

After doing the latest update, I started getting a black screen when loading my DJ Hero 2 disc. The disc is 100% clean and pretty much brand new.

I tried all 15 of my other games, a few DVD's, and some CD's and everything else read fine.

I did all the steps of clearing the cache, removing the hard drive, and even holding down the power button for 10 seconds as suggested by a Microsoft employee on Twitter.

This last step actually got the game going, but it won't get past the title screen where it shows the game makers, it just freezes up.

So did the latest update nix my chance of playing the game? Anyone else have this issue?

After update xbox one will get stuck on a black screen and xbox loading screen.

Sorry to hear about disc error. Are you able to try the disc on a different console? Do you have any USB flash drives connected to your console? If you have a USB flash drive plugged in to your console, try removing the USB and loading the disc.

Thanks for the quick response.

I tried on a friends console and it works fine. I have no USB drives plugged in to my device.

Today, I deleted all of my DJ HERO 2 content (minus download packs), cleared the cache of my hard drive, and reset the 360 by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.

Upon inserting the DJ Hero 2 disc, it still just showed "Play Game" and would not show the DJ Hero 2 icon and when trying to play it would give me The Disc Is Unreadable error.

I found though if I kept trying to play it would read to the title screen and pop up that I need an update for the game. I download the update and then immediately it tells me The Disc Is Unreadable after download.

 

I should add that now any attempt to play the game results in a frozen black screen.

 

On a final note, I have found that now the DJ Hero 2 icon will appear, but if I try to play the game it still freezes on a black screen until I turn off the 360.

I did find that if I view the game details by hitting X, I have an option to install DJ Hero 2.

On attempting to do this I get to 25% then it tells me it can't read the disc.

I wish it was as simple as a scratched disc but this thing is in brand new condition with zero markings on the disc, so I can't imagine that is the problem, especially since it reads on other consoles.

Are there any options to install and play the game via internet without a disc?

Since you have tried the disk on a different console, it looks like we can rule out that the disc is causing the issue.

A few other steps I would recommend trying would be clearing the cache 3 times followed by turning your console off for 30 seconds. I know you have already tried clearing your cache, but sometimes it helps to try multiple times. Make sure that all third party
accessories are disconnected when trying the suggested steps.

I would also suggest checking to see if you have a corrupted saved game file. You can follow the steps to Check for a corrupted saved game file here. If you notice a yellow
exclamation point marking on the DJ Hero 2 save file, it means that the save file is corrupt.

Let us know if saved game file is corrupt and we will go from there.

I tried your method of clearing the cache 3 times and turning off the XBOX for 30 seconds.

This now shows the DJ Hero logo in the play game box but it can't get past the title screen on loading.

My guess is for whatever reason, my unit is just flat out rejecting this disc. I checked the save game file and it wasn't corrupt. I deleted the entire DJ Hero 2 content just to see if that would help but it didn't.

I am just going to buy a new copy of the game, put the old disc in the packaging for the new game and then return it as non-working. I was wondering though since I deleted all my DJ Hero 2 content, can I recover my purchased add-on's I got for the game?

Sorry to hear that the disc is still giving you issues. Like you said, trying a new disc would definitely be the next step for troubleshooting.

As far as your previous purchases, you should be able to reinstall purchased content from your Download History. Just follow the steps to Redownload content on your console.

i picked up a disc for $2.99 at Gamespot and it works fine, still no clues as to why the other dropped out.
