black screen flash

Hi, try using a HDMI high speed cable. Like this one:

I installed an A/V receiver and connect it to tv using this kind of cable, and now I has no black screen at all. But the console is connected to A/V receiver with the included cable, so maybe the important one is the cable connected to tv.

Since the last update I have noticed my screen flashing black. I have searched the forums and found this issue was common at launch with certain tvs. Idon't have those brands and it just started. Never did find a solution listed but I think the problem
expanded on update. Anyone know the solution?

Thanks for the reply... I just wasn't sure if this sounded like a symptom of overheating, or something else.

If anyone else has any feedback, please let me know.

Also- would it be safe to try and replicate the problem again by putting a case back on it and seeing if it happens again? That way I know for sure that's what caused it?

With my return policy closing soon, I just want to be sure I have this figured out before it's too late and I'm stuck with a potentially prone-to-fail console. Thanks again.

 

not it is simply incompatible, your AV converts the Picture and Audio again. and in the "new" protocoll from AVR your TV has no more to struggle..

Well for you this can be a Workaround, but not for others..

purchasing further devices and cables is no solution..

There seems to be a lot of such incompatily Problems in General, I hope they can improve!

Not, my A/V does not make any video manipulation. It is a Pioneer HTP-072. It only makes audio.

It is a cheap cable, so try to get one and test it by yourself on your tv.

There is nothing to lose.

 

Of course it do, it is an AVR. you have Features liike lipsynch and such stuff.

(only 4k is pass thru)

Picture will be delayed (miliseconds).

Can you try this Setup without AVR? xbox->cable-> TV

and if you have an optical can you check what if ist only Audio on AVR and HDMI direct to TV?

Hi all - was there a fix for this? Im chatting to live support now and they wont even acknowledge that there is an issue

 

I has no optical so direct Xbox -> TV using the HDMI high speed with Ethernet cable and setting stereo audio. I has noticed an improve. A black screen flash I think is signal of sync, if we have various or delayed it can be because sync problems.

The results, when connecting to:

- Xbox ->(stock cable) ->A/V receiver -> (HDMI high speed) -> TV: 1 black screen flash within 10 seconds of power on.

- Xbox -> (HDMI high speed cable) -> TV: 1 black screen flash within 1 minute.

- Xbox -> (stock cable) -> TV: multiple black screen flashes within 10 minutes.

The results are good at least for my TV (Philips), because within 1 minute I am loading the game/App yet, or maybe on dashboard.

 

I seem to have the same issue. I'm using a Philips TV: 37PFL8404H/12.

Switched cables; from stock to a gold-plated one and it seems to take a bit longer before the issue occurs. However once it occurs, the time in between the black screens is much lower than the first time.

Very annoying... Any more insights on what I could try? Really doubting on returning the Xbox...

 

Instead only "gold-plated" try with a full "high speed with Ethernet". Gold plated can be a normal cable but with golden connectors only, improving some the quality but not really faster than the stock one.

 

I now have a 'Audio-Video-Ethernet' HDMI 1.4 Ready cable from 'TruAVE3D' that I'm borrowing from work. I believe it costs over 100 Euro for a 2 metre cable, so I'm guessing it should largely exclude cable issues if the black screens are still there.

I will try it out this evening, and report back.

I had a play session of over 3 hours yesterday, and I haven't seen any issues as of yet with this new cable (TruAVE3D HDMI 1.4 Ready). Still too early to tell, but at this moment it does seem like this cable makes a difference in my case.

I'd prefer not to have to buy this cable myself however (as I said, it's a loan from work and it's rather expensive), so I will try some lower end cables to see up to what point I can get a stable system. I'll keep you guys informed.

 

If your cable works, there is no need for that expensive one. It is enough one of type "HDMI 1.4 High speed with Ethernet", that usually costs less tan $10 in Amazon.

I have borrowed a TV from a relative now, a 42 inch Samsung. No problems seen. Connected my laptop also to my bravia and its blanking so;

Its a sony TV issue. Possibly down to some HDMI chipset that maybe other TV's use.

Either way, i just ordered a new LG 42inch from comet, reduced from 600 quid to 270.

Never ever touching another Sony product again.
