black screen after starting game or application

you have to set you're xbox (if you're still playing discs) in the settings menu to startup with disc than it worked for me without any unplugging or something like that. hope it will work for other people

 

This issue is NOT fixed, why is it marked 'answered'? What the hell, Microsoft? I can't launch apps or games from hard drive or disk. Also, the answer I saw was to clear the cache three times? Why three times? And what does the cache have to do with any
of this? None of the proposed solutions worked. This is a QA and customer service failure and it's being dealt with very poorly.

 

I was able to play games by unplugging the cat-5 from my Xbox. It isn't a solution, but it seems to be a temporary workaround for single-player or offline games.

This is a very common problem and its the same exact thing for everybody. Pretty strange I'd say

 

Come on Microsoft the point of a successfull business is people being able to use the product without problems. I wanna play dark souls

I unplugged my ethernet cable, powered on my xbox, signed in, declined the network test, launched COD: Ghosts, game loaded, plugged in ethernet cable, then signed in to XBL.

This has worked for me.

 

I have found a way around having this issue as it wqs pissing me off, what you do is disconnect from xbox live, go into the game while offline and then sign back into xbox live. It has worked everythime for me. Hope this helps

 

I still am having the same problem. My issue is not resolved except for the very cumbersome workarounds. Microsoft, please fix this issue!

 

I was about to get rid of my Xbox but luckily I checked out Xbox Live updates and found this article. Its not just my Xbox, we ALL struggling!

 

So mine works now. I don't know it if was because of an update or what. The last thing I did was disconnect from my wireless network on my xbox, then turned my xbox off and unplugged its power supply. Then I unplugged my network router for 30 seconds from
power. Then I plugged in my router, waited the 2-3 minutes for it to "reboot", then I plugged in my xbox and reconnected it to the wireless network. Works fine now. Again, I don't know if this was successful because of the process or because of luck timing.

Same case for me.. have been having the black screen for two days since 31st of July.

I had to disconnect the console from wi-fi, restart, then I managed to play / launch apps while offline.

There has to be a permanent fix for this... Still waiting for any patch that MS would release to address this..

 

Had this happen to me for 2 days, but last night I downloaded a game add-on and since then its doing o.k.

 

All these "workarounds" that suggest unplugging network cables and things don't work if you're on a wireless network, as I am. Signing out of Live didn't work for me either.

Also, I don't want a "workaround" that lets me play single player and offline games. The point of buying the system was to be able to play multiplayer/online games. That and this is my primary device for using apps like Netflix (my kid is going BONKERS
because she can't watch her fave shows that we do on Netflix) and Youtube.

Microsoft: This is SERIOUSLY bad business! Where's the fix? Where's the "patch"? Something's got to give here, it's been almost 5 days!
