When i turn my Xbox one on it comes up the green logo as usual but then it goes to a black screen which i cant seem to get it off and go to dashboard, I've tried every possible way i thought like power cycle, Changing HDMI and pressing home button on Xbox
one controller and it still does not do anything.

Help!!! Black Screen after Logo start up screen!!

Generally for this issue I would have suggested the reboot method (holding the power button down) but you state you have tried this. Other methods would include:

    • Unplugging the power supply from the mains and from the console and leaving for a while (30 mins or so)
    • Remove any external devices (inc. Kinect), leaving only power and HDMI and attempting to power on
I cannot guarantee either of these will work but for me they have been common fixes when I have had similar issues.

Please let us know if you manage to resolve the issue.

  3. Help!!! Black Screen after Logo start up screen!!

I was in the middle of a happy day on destiny. Out of nowhere, I lost connection to xbox live. This has happened before, and I resolved the problem by restarting my console. When I went to turn it back on, I just got stuck on a black screen right after the
green loading screen. I can't make it to the dashboard. I have called Microsoft support, and they could only tell me to try and do a hard reset, which I have done countless times. I even tried doing a factory reset with a USB but I cant seem to get it to mount.
I really do not want to have to send it in and wait so long for them to repair or replace it. If anyone could attempt helping me it would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Please visit
    support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool
This website actually explains the whole process and has the file you need, but to simplify the process I’ve put together the below information.

You’ll want to use a 3.0 USB Flash Drive with at least 2GB of storage space, formatted to NTFS file type. Use the Restore to Factory Default file found on the above page.

Be sure that once you’ve unzipped the files and are transferring them to the USB that you only move the files, not the folder. There can be no folder on the USB.

    File Instructions:

    1. Click Save to save the console update .zip file to your computer.

    2. Unzip the file (double-click the .zip file to unzip it)

    3. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive. (can not be in a folder on USB)

    4. Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.

    5. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox One console.

    6. Press and hold the BIND and EJECT buttons on the console, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

    7. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    8. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart.

Note If you don't hear two power-up tones after 10 seconds, it means this failed. Likewise, if you hear any “power-down” chirps, that also means this failed. Start again at step 6.

    9. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

    10. When the console restarts, remove the USB drive.

    11. Once the console restarts, the update is complete and you should be returned to your experience

Black screen after start up screen?

Tried that! The logo and start up screen appears then a black screen so the HDMI is perfect

Indefinite black screen after logo when starting up.

This happened to my son yesterday - the Xbox (6 mths old) was working fine in the morning but just gave the black screen after the green boot up screen in the evening. We tried the power down scenario several times and then Microsoft emailed me over the
instructions and link for the system update diagnostic - that froze at about 75% for nearly an hour so we had to do the system restore. Son is gutted as he has lost his story mode in gta after 5 mths work but hopefully once he installs all games etc again
it will be ok except for that. Not impressed but a quicker solution to sending it off and Microsoft wiping it anyway. I haven't found any other solution. Good luck.

Indefinite black screen after logo when starting up.

Hey there. From what I've read, this is usually the result of an update failing, and can normally be fixed with the offline system update diagnostic tool. Here is a link to the download and instructions. You will need a USB drive with at least 2 GB free
and nothing else on it to complete this though:

Please post back and let me know if that works
