Black screen after initial green startup screen

I was playing halo 5 and it froze so I went to the home screen and it froze so I turned off my xbox. Turned it back on and the green screen appeared and then I got the black screen and it won't go away. Can't hear sound or anything. I have tried hard resetting
it.

Requesting Access to Preview Program Forums

I am a member of the Preview Program and since the new dashboard update all I get is a black screen after the initial green startup screen. I cannot view the Preview Program forums. It keeps saying group not found.

Same issue here. No games will play at all... disc games, downloaded games, x360 games... all get stuck on a black screen after initial startup screen. I uninstalled the latest game update (minecraft) and still having issues. MS support please help

Same thing happened to me last night. I have no idea what this "Preview Program is".

 

Let me tell you why I will never buy an Xbox again, also tell you about this black screen. The black screen is an update malfunction and you will have to try an offline update with a USB stick. It did not work for me but hopefully you will have better luck.
I called Xbox and the only way to repair it for me is to send my Xbox in. So now I have that problem along with an Xbox that cannot read discs. How great is that? Well the repair is $180 if you are not under warranty, to me that is saying it's almost as much
as getting a new one so why not just go buy a new one although you have already gave us a bunch of money for our day one edition to which the lady on the phone laughed when I told her I had the day one and said, and I quote, "that's why." My reply, even though
I could've have been nicer because it wasn't exactly her fault, was I will not give any more of my money to a company that releases a piece of **** that will break down right after warranty just so you will go buy a new one. Microsoft will never get another
dollar from me because I feel that I have gotten royally *** on this deal. If you read this far thank you for reading my rant, if you are an employee reading this and are going to respond with "hey buddy click this link it will help" then please don't bother,
the only link I will click is we fix xboxs for free because we make a bunch of money and thats the right thing to do because we sold you a machine made to break down to get more money from you and we feel bad.com

 

Yup, I just tried the offline update with the USB and it still doesn't work. It just freezes 3/4s of the way at "Applying Update".

Thanks Microsoft, you just bricked my Xbox 1 week from Fall Out 4 release date and it will takes weeks to get my broken system repaired, which you'll charge me for, even though it was your update that broke it.

@Anonymous - Just quickly, give you console a hard reset. Which you can do by having it on, then holding down the power button for 10seconds until the console turns off. Unplug the power brick from the console and wall, wait a minute or two, then plug it
back in and turn it all on again. If that doesn't work, create a new thread and mention you've done a hard reset and we'll take it from there

Yea I started my own thread and its not "our" issues, its microsofts. They sold me a faulty device and expect me to give them more money to fix it while taking weeks to do so. The warranty lasts a year and the device is obviously destined to fail at 2, we've
done every step to fix it and it doesn't work without sending it to you and giving more money. If were smart enough to get on these forums then were smart enough to hard reset and research all the steps necessary to fix it. You know all too well that the true
fix is to send it to you and pay an outrageous amount of money that's almost the same as buying a new one. You start your own thread apologizing and ill vent here, thanks.

 

Well i guess my xbox is bricked as well because of this stupid update, luckily i had a ps4
