Black Ops 2 - Unrecognized Disk

Hey guys,

Black Ops 2 gives me the error "Unrecognized Disk" upon inserting the disk. The disk is almost in a brand new condition, minimal amount of starches only, not broken or anything.

I have games that are in horrible condition and they still play fine. My 360 SLIM plays all games, even old xbox games. Except for BO2.

There is nothing wrong with my xbox, and from what I see on the disk, it's in a pretty good condition, so I don't understand?!

Black ops 2 won't load

Im having the same problem with black ops 2....I have an older xbox 360 the game is brand new zero scratches and I keep getting the "open tray" or "unrecognized disk" its really pissing me off I am seriously ready to break the damn xbox

Does the console read any other games or just black ops 2? If it is just black ops 2 that won't read please check the disk to see if there are any scratches that prevent the console from reading the disk.

 

There might be finger prints on the disc which may cause the disc to not act correctly. Try cleaning the disc with a soft cloth rag.And/or what usually works is rubbing alcohol on the disc the wipe it down.

 

After cleaning your disc, try installing the game to your Xbox. If it allows you to install the game, try playing the game again.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses so far,

1 - Game has no fingerprints, no marks, no scratches. I have games in 10x worse condition that play perfectly fine.

2 - I can not install the game - it just says "Unrecognized Disk" and gives me no option to do anything with it. Can't play, can't install.

3 - All my other games play fine, like I said, even the ones that have scratches.

I have never seen this error, COD Black Ops 2 is the first game disk to ever do this to me.

I also have black ops 1 that plays like a dream.

After digging around online, I have found many people complaining about Black Ops 2 not running on their older (fat) consoles. I have a slim that plays pretty much all games, including old "xbox original" games, dvds, music cds etc...

I don't understand why Black Ops 2 is doing this, I fear that may have I bought a faulty disk?! Like, the disk is physically fine, but the digital data on it might be corrupt = xbox complaining?! How could they distribute disks with corrupt data on them?!
IS that even possible?
